Well minecraft is basically infiniminer but with a few different features.
I am guessing if your posting on an MMO site that you are after an MMO and the closest you will ever get to minecraft are sandbox games. Xyson, Wurm online, Ryzom are the ones that spring to mind about building stuff and "living" in the game world.
Other sandboxes are EVE, Darkfall and Mortal Online.
MMO wish list:
-Changeable worlds -Solid non level based game -Sharks with lasers attached to their heads
I would say that Mortal Online is like Minecraft except you build houses and don't have much freedom to build whatever you want. Also everything in Mortal will take a really long time or a guild to do. Might want to try it since you can now do a 2 week free trial (No Credit Card needed) and you basically have the whole game available to you.

Wurm Online is Notch's old game, it plays much like a slower version of Minecraft. Minecraft is probably more polished.

Ryzom I've tried, Xyson sounds interesting. I'd rather claw my eyes out than go back to EVE. Dunno bout Mortal, haven't tried Darkfall.
Currently trying-and-failing at getting the hang of stranded 2 w/ massive mod.
