Black Prophecy: European Open Beta Ready to Begin

Gamigo has announced that the European version of the Black Prophecy open beta is scheduled to begin with the North American open beta to come at a later date. European players can register for the beta at the official Black Prophecy site.

The new open beta client will include many new and updated features that were not available before: controls have been made more intuitive and allow the direction one is shooting in to be determined independently from the direction of the ship. Weapons have been examined carefully and their damage output has been rebalanced. The level cap has been raised to level 40 and new content has been added. A change log of all the new features can be found in the official forum.

Confusing.  So there is a closed beta in NA.  An open beta in EU.  But apparently if you are from NA they won't allow you to connect to the EU servers.  Are they IP blocking anyone from NA that tries to connect to the EU servers?  Why not have an open beta in NA, their news on their site goes on to say there will be more closed beta in NA, but no mention of open beta.  Why'd they do it like this?  Just curious.

Actually that is what EU players had to deal with for years since most studios and publishers are from the States.

Does seem weird to have more closed in NA while you've got a open in Europe.
