It is not a an open world PvP game in the strict sense of the word..or as most PvP enthusiasts expect it to be merely because it is a sandbox.for example...A Tale in the Desert is sandbox and in no way is a PvP game. It is primarily a PVE sandbox game focusing on community but will have opportuniies for PvP. It's pretty entertaining imo and it's nice to see a review/preview that reflects the unbiased enthusiasm for the game that MANY of it's current players have expressed in forum posts. Of course..like most of the pro-xsyon posters...this reviewer will probably be labeled a "Fanboi" for just mentioning something positive about the game...despite the negatives that were mentioned.
Xsyon will have perma-death at some point in the future.
The death/alignment system has yet to be implemented
The "some point in the future" argument is getting a bit stale, when arguing about features that a game has or will have.
I recall the Aion 'vision' trailer or what AoC and WAR would have as features, and reality always lags behind compared with grand visions for the future.
And it always sounds like trying to sell a game on features it doesn't even have implemented, nor will have in the short foreseeable future.

Of course. Wouldn't be fair towards fans of other games, would it, if they're being called 'fanbois' unjustly and Xsyon fans should escape that tag
IMO though, calling a fan a 'fanboi' - whether that's for Xsyon, Rift, DCUO, WoW whatever - is only justified if that poster has shown an inability to acknowledge negative aspects of his/her game or has shown the urge to squash any criticising of their game even if it wasn't 'hating' or 'trolling' on a game.
The ease with which predictions are made on these forums: Fratman: "I'm saying Spring 2012 at the earliest [for TOR release]. Anyone still clinging to 2011 is deluding themself at this point."
Thanks for the preview. Been having a blast myself playing, although I have not been playing very recently, just waiting for the final wipe to happen next week.

Yeah..that was pretty much my point as stated. I myself never use "fanboi" unless it's referencing the term itself. I just noticed that many who play Xsyon..myself included...are pretty consistent in pointing out it's flaws as well as what we find entertaining...yet still get attempts to squash our enthusiasm from posters who obviously don't and never will like the game. Their prerogative I guess.
I'm glad you have specific criteria for your use of the term...having read it over I would agree...but I rarely see a Xsyon player that would qualify ..compared to the many times I've seen 'Fanboi" thrown about. Granted..there are a few pro-posters that fit your parameters..on that I also agree.
I love Xsyon but recommend that people wait at least a couple of months after release before trying this game. A lot of things need to be worked out prior to the games release and it will not all get fixed right away.
This game does have full-loot PvP, but each player has access to their own swath of land that they can claim where they are safe inside of it.
Now, this game does have a good bit of problems that need to be worked out, but the Devs seem to listen to the player-base and is not opposed to reasonable comprimise. All-in-all, I think this game will be something eventually. It just needs a bit more than two devs and six artists working on it.

I think alot of people have hit on alot of key things.
This game is not finished nor will be for along time, but what it has now is alot of fun for people that enjoy crafting. the combat is in no way near darkfalls combat. There is no ranged for starters and no magic either. But what it does have is the ability to pvp or pve creatures in the wild, like bears coyotes raccoons and muledeer. These creatures are needed for specific crafting items.
The combat is schedualed for a update and he wants to put in a mount and blade style combat system but i would not look for this to be ready for awhile.
But if you love games like wurm online you will love Xyson in its currnet state.

Meh, screenshots don't impress me. The gameplay looked interesting but not intersting enough.
The screenshots don't really do the world justice. I would say the sky is as nice as Vanguard's with a real weather system, moon cycle, real constellations and volumetric clouds.
The trees are nothing special, with some looking bugged but it is all forgiven by having you able to cut them down, the trees fall down, you chop up the wood in small pieces or long logs...well you get the point.

Well I just went over to the site, looking at the screen shots. Is that how it really looks in game, if so then the graphics are pathetic to say the least.

Most would argue that gameplay is >graphics. However after playing the game myself, the graphics are not that bad.

Well, if you are one of those people that value graphics over gameplay, then by all means avoid Xsyon. I personally think the graphics are great, I can actually run the game with reasonable settings and it looks good on my machine, whereas something like Rift runs like garbage and I have to set the game on low render in order to get 25 fps. Rift actually looks worse on my machine than Xsyon does because I have to set everything so low. I get excellent FPS with Xsyon and it looks good, to me at least. In the month and half I have been playing the game I have had a great time, just waiting for the final wipe to take place.

Well then just don't play it. Meh, it's not like graphics are the point of this game. There's plenty of games around which count on graphics as the primary (and sadly the only) argument for playing them...
This is a game which sacrifices gfx for other stuff, namely emergent systems. If you have terraforming and real seasonal cycle that influences vegetation and all then you cannot have the same level of carefully crafted environmental detail such as in Age of Conan for example. You trade off this graphical detail for the changeability of the world itself. You can't have both with the kind of technology available today.
UO was pretty mutable but it could do that only because it was in 2D. EQ's world was static in comparison but that enabled it to go 3D. With today's tech you can have an emergent, mutable world in 3D... but not to the level of graphics those static world-set-in-stone games have.
As for textures, animations and models.. Well.. I find them adequate, with gear itself being really cool - wouldn't change it really. In fact I find most of raw gfx assets pretty amazing considering how low budget this game is and the size of dev crew. If they get enough money back I suppose they'll work on improving those aspects of Xsyon's presentation.

Thanks for being quite honest about it. When you spend 14 hours a day behind a monitor it does become about graphics somewhat. I thought everything looked kind of platic but screenshots a lot of times dont show the true game.
Rift, while it has its graphics if you can call wow touched up graphics is not for me. I guess im still looking for something with half way good graphics and great gameplay.
I guess the only question after you comments of waiting for the wipe they are about to go into production with this one. So that means there done with beta and what not. So I would have to wait for something like a free trieal or somethng.

Well there may nlot be a trial around for awhile, there rarely ever is for a year or so after launch of any MMO. However, if you purchase the game now as a pre-order you will be getting 2 months free play time, and they are giving us an additional 2 weeks due to the server issues & testing that have been going on & the delayed launch.
So as it stands now, for $40 pre-order you get:
-Instant access to the game to try it out before the launch in a couple weeks.
- 2 1/2 months of free gametime
- A Limited Edition special in-game weapon of your choice
Not a bad deal at all for the price. that 2 1/2 months of free game time pretty much makes up for the $40 you spend to get the game. You would be spending that $40 anyway to pay the sub of another game.

I am interested in playing Xsyon... I would definitely prefer to join a tribe to build and such with. Anyone looking for members ?
I cant get into the idea of this game yet simply from the combat videos ive seen. That is just ridiculous.
Thats me tho, i dont see the point in playing a video game where all you do is collect wood and build a house.

any one who is intrested in this game and wanne try it should.
Crafting,building, harvesting chatting very amusing
This game can not be compared to darkfall as xyson have no combat what so ever
( well it kinda does but it really sucks)
As players already said game needs alot of improvement
its more lika a semi afk game alt tab and harvest

Come on. This game gives you all of the tools to literally form and shape an entire empire in your own image...but yes you can just build a house.
