It had better be an improvement over that last farce.

While I certainly am no fanboi of episode 1, I still saw it four times in the theatre.

I saw episode 2 once, and will probably never watch it again.

since i grew up with the original 3 movies(han shot first!!!!) i am a huge fan of them. i remember seeing empire and jedi in the theater was too young at the time to catch a new hope in theater. When the rumors of the new movies started flying around man i was overjoyed.

but then episode 1 came out and i wanted to kill lucas. I mean what the hell is this midiclorian crap. it had never been in a book, rpg source book or lore of any kind. Then episode 2 came out and i thought hey ill go see it and see what happens. it should have been called anakin in love. Ama: no we cant do this it isn't right we must resist. Anakin/throw tempertantrum. ama finds out anakin kills innocent sandpeople women and children and is turned on. what  the hell is that all about.

So no i don't look forward to episode 3 but i will see it none the less and much like a heroin addict ill hate myself in the morning.

What are you talking about?  The first Star Wars movie Lucas did not direct was Empire nor did not direct Return.  In fact Episode I was the first movie he has directed since the original Star Wars movie.  However, he is directing Episode III was well.

And I cannot wait for the Episode III.  I will admit that neither episode I or II were up to par with the other movies.  I think the issue is two fold.  The minor part is Lucas.  He sees this much more as a 'kid' movie franchise now.  He also thinks way more about technology and pushing filmaking to another level.  This is because he is a father and now sees the world through their eyes and seen all the children growning up with Star Wars.  Then pretty much every director will tell you how important Lucas was to improving directing techniques and pushing the limits of technology.  That is what he likes to do so now he has even better toys to the play with.  All of this has distracted him from making as good of movies as he could have.

The other faults are with the fans.  They expect too much.  No matter how great the movies could have been the same people would be complaining.  They would place the barrier so high it would be impossible.  If the people that bitch on the net were anything but the minority then these movies would not be in the top of the box office.

Plot: The Clone Wars continues and Anikin falls to the dark side.  After turning on the Jedi Council he hunts down and kills the jedi.  He fights Obi Wan and is injured substantially enough to need machine parts over most of his body resulting in him becoming Darth Vadar.  And the movie does not end with that, Darth will be in a large portion of the movie from what has been released.  You will find out how the Republic ends up with an Emperor.  Luke and Leia will be gestating in Queen Amidala's womb before it is all over.

Personally I think every movie made after Empire Strikes Back was pure crap. RotJ was just as bad, if not worse that episode 1. Let me prove my point:

    1. Jabba the Hutt, baddest gangster in the Universe. Thousands of people after his head and his job. Will so strong immune to Jedi mind tricks. How is he taken down? Choked out by a chained up broad in a bikini .

    2. Boba Fett, baddest Bounty Hunter is the Universe. Killed/captured hunderes of people including the legandary Han Solo. How is he taken down? A blind guy with a stick turns around (sure if you read the books this didn't kill him, whatever still the second dumbest thing I've ever seen in a movie, the first being making Greedo shot first)

    3. Darth Vader, man who hunted down and killed nearly all the other jedi. Kills people just by looking at their image in a view screen, blocks laser blasts with his bare hand. How is he taken down? Couple of lighting bolts hit him. You know the same lighting bolts that his son had been taking for about 5 minutes with no long lasting effects.

    4. The Emperor. Most powerful man in the Universe. Destryer of worlds. The man who gets called Master by the guy who killed all the jedi. How does he get taken down? His one armed student throws him over a railing...Uh yeah.

    5. Stormtroopers. The deadliest troops in the galaxy, cloned from the man who is the baddest Bounty Hunter (yeah thought that part was stupid too). How are they taken down? Teddy Bear sized Ewoks throw wooden spears and rocks. (don't we make fun of Poland because they attacked Tanks with Swords on horse back?)

I don't think I need to say anything about Episode I. That's pretty much universally accepted as worthless.

    Episode II

    1. We learn that Anakin becomes Darth Vader, the most vile and hated being in the Universe, all becasue HE MISSES HIS MOMMY.

    2. Read number 1 again.

    1.  Jabba is powerful not because of his physical presence but because he is the head of the Hutts and it is the orginization that does it.

    2.  He didn't really capture Han he led the Empire to him.  I think he is highly overrated.

    3.  Darth is more man than machine.  The lightning disrupts those machine.  Further when he turned from the dark side is no longer keeping him alive.  It was that side of the force that was keeping him alive.

    4.  The Emperor's death is not the best, but it is not like we know that the Emperor is very powerful just that he is in charge.

    5.  Stormtroopers are not clones in the original trillogy.  They are just normal people who work for the Empire.  If you had actually watched the movies you might remember Luke was going to join the Academy.  If you believe that they can miss as often as they do in the movies then I do not see why you find it hard to believe Ewoks could kill them.  Stormtroopers are about as useful as the guy in the red shirt on Star Trek.  The reason Fett was used as the clone in Episdoe II is because Lucas already had decided they were clones way back when he originall wrote the entire story out in the mid 70's.  He made it Fett because he knew how popular this minor character became so he added it.  Not the best decision, however not the worst.

    EII

    1.  That is not why he becomes Darth.  It is about a need to control every thing as soon as possible.  If he has enough power he will be able to control things to keep those he loves alive.  Add into that a huge ego because he knows he is so powerful and that leads to a lot of problems.  His final fall has nothing to do with his mother at all.

Riiight and I'm sure no one has tried to kill him before, that's why they were totally unprepared. I mean it wasn't like there was an escape attempt and people getting attacked...oh wait...

    2.  He didn't really capture Han he led the Empire to him.  I think he is highly overrated.

Well he was the only one that could find him. Pretty impresive considering the whole frickin Empire Fleet was after him. Overrated or not, no one that has been trained to fight, and use a jet pack should get killed (defeated) because a blind guy turns around with a stick. This is just retarded.

    3.  Darth is more man than machine.  The lightning disrupts those machine.  Further when he turned from the dark side is no longer keeping him alive.  It was that side of the force that was keeping him alive.

Okay this one I'll let you get away with. The whole "Dark Side keeping him alive" thing sounds pretty reasonable and I'll drop this from my argument.

    4.  The Emperor's death is not the best, but it is not like we know that the Emperor is very powerful just that he is in charge.

Riiight, because all the weak people are able to rule with an iron fist...and control the man who killed all (most) of the Jedi. Just admit this was weak.

Actually I think you're the one who needs to watch the movie again: The Stormtroopers are clones: First Luke and Ben talk about the clone wars Then when they rescued Pricess Leia: "Aren't you a little short for a Stormtrooper?" How would she know if they were all different people? They'd all be different heights anyway. Second Luke was going to join the FLIGHT acadamy to become a PILOT not a stormtrooper...So what was that armor for if it couldn't even stop spears and rocks? Please, don't even try to defend the whole Ewok thing, that's a losing battle.

Oh gimme a break.  If you're a real Star Wars fan, you'll know that Episode 4-6 was not enough!  There had to be more!  What I loved about Episode 2 was that in the Official Movies (Not video games, books and comic books) we finally see a Jedi Knight turn to the Darkside!

    ***SPOILER FROM K.O.T.O.R.***

If you played KOTOR, it was so cool to see how some characters are tempted by the darkside!  Like how Bastilla is turned!  She could of turned when she finally meets her mother, but she didn't, since she surpressed her emotions, so she stayed light!  Imagine if she didn't, she would of joined the Darkside right away!

Same goes for Episode 2!  What really made Anakin go towards the darkside was his emotions for his mother!  That was freaking awesome!  Nowhere in Episode 4-6 you saw something like that.  Luke almost turned, but he kept hanging on and kept telling himself that his dad would turn.

And how could you hate RotJ ???  At the last second, Vader turns light again after seeing his son suffer.  I was like OMG!  That's why RotJ and AotC were my two favorite Star Wars movies!  They both revolve around Jedi, which I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE, and you see both of these elements.

And in Episode 3, you will truly see Anakin become a Dark Jedi once and for all.  I mean just the Episode 3 trailer where you hear the Emperor say: "Dark Vader!" then Vader: "Yes Master." then he says "RISE" and you see Vader... OMG!!!!  When I see that scene in the movie I will p1ss in my pants!

It's like any movies.  If you go to the theatre with your mind set that "this movie will suck", you will hate it.  Take the Matrix movies.  I saw the 2nd Movie without anyone's comments, I liked it.  Then I saw the 3rd movie after all my friends, they all said it sucked... I didn't care, I saw it anyways saying to myself this movie will rock and it blew my head away!

Being a good tracker is different than being a good hunter.  The fact that Fett was smart enough to wait around after the fleet left to follow Han says he may be a good tracker, but this does not mean he is the badass you and everyone else wants him to be.  More than that, it is easier to avoid an entire army looking for you than a few people.  An army is easy to see and avoid, one lone person would not be noticed.

As for the Hutts, there is a concept called Hubris.  It is what brings powerful people down, including Capone.  You start to think you are so powerful no one can stop you.  You make mistakes and this leads to your downfall.  It is very common in movies and in history.

As you will see in Episode III there is a difference between Stormtroopers and Clonetroopers.  The pilots are also Troopers in the movies.  If you can clone an army you would not need an academy you could just make more.  The Clonetroopers are part of the Clone War.  While serving as the basis for the Army of the Empire they are not the same Army in Ep II and III just similar uniforms.  And yes look at the armor because it is different.

  • JodokaiJodokai Member Posts: 1,621

Okay they guy is a Bounty Hunter. He does it for a living, give him some credit. The way he died was retarded even if you don't like him. I don't like the Emperor and still think the way he died was retarted.

Jabba the Hutt was under attack. It was obvious it was right there. No one slipped in undetected. You say it was his orginization that kept him alive, yet when under attack the whole orginazation just forgets about him? All his body guards just said, "I KNOW I should be doing something right now, but I'll be damned if I can remember what it was. Ah well, I guess I'll just watch that blind guy kill a notorious bounty hunter by accident." Oh and Capone wasn't brought down because he was overconfident, he was brought down becaue some geeky book worm thought of something no one else did. No matter how you try to spin this, Jaba the Hutt one of the most notorious gangsters in the galaxy was chocked out by a chained up girl in a metal bikni, and that is just dumb.

Actually after rewatching that part, we don't know what acadamy Luke was talking about. Maybe he was going to go become an officer and it was the Officer Acadamy.

How can I not like RotJ? I think I've made it pretty obvious why I thought it was trash.

    1. Jabba had good connections, but he was still vunerable. Jabba had let his guard down because he was about to kill a Jedi...also, his guards were not around because of some kid doing backflips with a lightsaber outside.

    2. Boba Fett was not considered the "baddest Bounty Hunter" in the Universe in ESB and RoTJ. His fans made him into that. Lucas, being a marketing guru like he his, captilized on this for his newer movies. At the time, Boba was no more as impressive as the next bounty hunter. The reason why he became so famour was because he had a cool helmet. So at the time, Boba was just considered a normal bounty hunter. Plus, Fett tracked Solo, true....but so did Gweedo and so did another bounty hunter that Solo mentions in the beginning of ESB. A lot of BH tracked down Solo. Fett didn't capture Solo...Vader did. All Fett did was escort Solo's frozen arse into the Slave 1

    3. Darth Vader was more machine than man (as mentioned by Obi) Electricity damages electrical equipment more than electricity damages flesh. Plus, Vader wasn't killed by the electricity. It was the combination of his breathing regulator short circuiting out and Luke taking off his mask (which helped him breathe)

    4. Yeah, usually a 7000 meter drop into the core of a space station will kill anyone...even an evil guy strong in the force. Plus, the emporer was off guard...he wasn't expecting his pupil to do that....later on, you realize the emporer did not die that way

    5. I have to agree with you on that. never did like the ewoks (first signs of Lucas loosing his mind)

Additionally, Im a little scared how Episode 3 will turn out. Lucas butchered the first two. He makes everything so digital that it just screams "fake"

Gone are the days when Star Wars had that gritty post-used look.

People who have to create conspiracy and hate threads to further a cause lacks in intellectual comprehension of diversity.

I too remember watching Star Wars back in 77 with rose tinted spectacles....

Now I wonder why Obi Wan when he goes into hiding he only changes his first name and not his last name.

Why they raise Luke with his fathers surname

Oh....and if i found out that i had been raised on the planet Luke described as if there was a light in the galaxy you are on the planet furthest from it as a farmer, while my sister had been raised as royalty i think i would be tempted to try the dark side. image

if you  read the books you will see that he is just that. a badass. he prepares for all eventualitys. he thinks of everything. he also has a nuke on his back. Buuut he cant figure out for a few day after being half digested to ues it. but thats off the subject and its in the books anyway. ok i can see a blind man Accidently hitting the switch on the pack in the middle of a melee, but let me ask you this why in the hell would the button that activates the pack be on the back? how is boba himself supposed to activate it?

Also i can see being surprised when it activates and being out of control for a sec or 2 but if you have a jetpack on your back you probably know how to control it and not fly into a giant mouth.

    1.  They're movies.

    2.  You have to start thinking from a stand point of, the good guys are heroes.  They're better than the average guy.  You talk about Jabba's body guards but what were they probably doing?  They were probably distracted by the little insurrection on the skiff outside of the sail barge, hence it was easy for Leia to do her thing.

    3.  Boba Fett was a chump as I said before. image

I know from a marketing point of view and profit allowing books and Comic books was a good idea, but in terms of Star Wars development I truly hate it.  Some how because some book gets printed and people take it to be the truth and if the movies conflict with that then they get upset.  they are two seperate things.  If you enjoy the books then fine, but these are the movies and take precedence over the books.

More than that, the books are not written by Lucas and were written AFTER RoJ.  So if the books make him about to be more than he was meants to be, blame the authors and not Lucas for making him more of a badass than he was supposed to be.

Actually no book can have the Star Wars name without Lucas approving it, so yes go ahead and blame Lucas.

You know what happnes with the White House gets attacked? All the presidents body guards shuffle him off to someplace safe, while the Marines go kill whatever is attacking. Having a bodyguard distracted is basically like having a fish drown, stupid.

You're right they are heroes, so why not have them do something heroic instead of turning around with a stick, or throwing the most powerful man in the universe over a balconay. I mean if it was that easy, someone would have thrown him off a building a long time ago.

  • JulianDracosJulianDracos Member UncommonPosts: 1,528

Approving the book doesn't mean he read it.  Running a few companies, raising kids, making movies, I really doubt he has time to read every Star Wars novel - besides I doubt he would like to read them either.

Fett became popular because he looked cool.  Some author decided to write about him and made him all great.  Now he has a fanboi population out there that gets upset anytime the creator of Fett does/did something they did not like.  Sorry you like the character.  Sorry you wasted your time reading the books.  But saying RoJ should have been different because of book written AFTER RoJ came out if just stupid.  Lucas allowed him to become popular because of marketing.  You should not take it more serious than that.
