But its FAR from having WoW's numbers.  As much as some may hate Blizzard and WoW, the fact remains that they are producing the only thing that counts to investors. Massive amounts of cold, hard cash. Month after month, and year after year.

Well WoW is catering to the casual, mainstream crowd where as Eve is catering to the hardcore space/sci-fi PvP people. So naturally WoW has more numbers, but there is no denying that Eve is doing extremely well in its small nische market.

And I have pointed out this before and I will do it again. I, and probably most customers, dont gives a rats ass how much $$ a game company is producing for their investors unless that money is transformed into continued development for said game. And I am pretty sure only a fraction of the huge income WoW is producing is going back to WoW.

Although I dont follow this game nor do I plan to play it, I wouldn't put too much stock that the wheels are going to fall off now.  Social Gaming is supposed to be the next "Big Thing".  If you want to get in on the ground floor then you have to move now, since the door of opportunity is closing fast.

I'm willing to bet it's not an indication of the state of the game, but more or less career motivated and possibly the state of MMO's altogether.

I'm not an IT Specialist, Game Developer, or Clairvoyant in real life, but like others on here, I play one on the internet.

    Not if they leave

Depends on the contract. Also if he has a stockpile of vacation time and arranged to simply "be on vacation" from now until just after the game ships. Any details about his contract however are confidential so nobody on this forum will ever be allowed to know the intimate details of such.

Often, the majority of a development team on an MMO will move on to a new project immediately after launch. It takes very different skills to start a game from scratch than it does to keep a game running. There simply isn't enough information in this story to know whether this is a big deal for Bioware or not.

As for why someone would want to move on to social game development, well it's definitely growing, there's money there, and there have been rumors about the death of PC gaming for, well, decades. I'd lay pretty good odds that he's more than stable financially and is gambling on The Next Big Thing™ And he's probably in a position to come out with a win no matter what happens.

Honestly he left bioware to go to that.  You got to ask why?

Ya this. I am so confused, there has to be more behind this story then we are seeing.

Sigh this was already explained, read the thread. Basicly casual browser "MMOs" are land of milk and honey at the moment.

Well you heard it here first ---->

The good doctors at Bioware had to let Gordy go on his merry way to keep paying Felicia Day the huge salary she is getting for her work in Dragon Age.
