RPG's with "end game" content

newbismnewbism Member Posts: 39

I posted a thread a while back, asking if any single player rpgs existed with a lot of content to play through, that could last many days /played like a mmo would.

From what i've gathered these games could qualify

Disgea Series - Seemed too childish , even though the games apprently have no end.

Darkcloud - havent tried it

Final Fantasy Tactics - Probably could last forever maxing all the jobs out , but I cant get into it

Oblivion - too much lore. I like this game but its more about getting into the story rather than focusing on maxing out everything

Cross Edge - havent tried it

Can anyone add some games? I basically want to grind in a single player rpg and pretend it's a mmorpg.

The dot hack series actually was a mmo simulation.

Fallout 2,  old as hell tho.

Gothic III give that a go, don't get the newest one tho.

Borderlands,  FPS style but has an open world to explore.

    replay through the Fable games.

    Mount and blade

Sacred II (cheesy but not too shabby)

However I think your idea that oblivion is about story is rediculas,  the story is very short almost added as an afterthought you in no way have to play even one quest in the story aside from the begining escape from prison.

"Lot of content" to play through? The whole POINT of single player RPGS is that you can bypass the agonizing, worthless level grind that has plagued so many traditional MMOs. The only redeeming aspect of MMORPGs over single player RPGs is the multiplayer features.

However, if you want to spend a staggering amount of time grinding skills and finding trivial item combinations to create new items and spells, Persona 3 and 4 are the games for you. It is a turn based RPG, but it's rather well known for it's bizarre plot, ridiculous amount of customization options and constantly branching storyline and sidequests.

Two Worlds 2 is all about loot and min-maxing your character to godlike levels. You make your own spells, loot is random, yada yada. Same goes for Diablo 2 but that is a bit old.

I might have to start this game up again with this in thought.  I recall everything being connected to quests though.  Not much to kill in the wilderness.

I guess I might check out Two Worlds II also. Thanks everyone.

hmm.. Longest RPG I've played was Star Ocean 2, with 6 run throughs and over 500 hours played on it. It helped that there was 81 different relationship based endings, and a post game dungeon with giga bosses. If I could emulate the PSP version on my computer somehow, I'd probably clock 100 more hours on it as they added a new character, and altered some stuff. Best game I've ever played, and the hours show how much I love this game.

Star Ocean 3 only had about 200 hours on it, and Star Ocean: New Hope had about 150 hours put on it.
