Xbox is not happening because Microsoft doesn't want mmo's or charge way too much to allow the server connection.

PS3 is not happening because porting it would require a lot more more work. While that work could be used to make an expansion that would probably earn more money. That and this game is a lot harder to optimise for ps3. DCUO is a pretty straightforward game. GW2 isn't.

If they were going to make it for any console, then they would have to do sooooo many different things to the game to make it work for the PS3. I think it would be a bad idea. GW will always stay as a PC series.

Given all the technical limitations of current gen consoles compared to necessary pc specs for being able to play GW2 (granted i know that all we know is the equivalent graphic card specs so far), it doesnt seem like the consoles would be able to handle the game well unless the settings were dropped down to possibly its lower performance rung to get a decent fps.

Personally i would rather they port the original GW to consoles since its far more likely the current gen consoles would be able to handle its requirements far better. With the inevitable exodus of the majority of GW1 players to GW2, this move would make sense in terms of keeping the original game alive while again profiting off all the work they have already done on it to a new possibly larger market segment. The B2P model seems pretty much ready made for a console port since most console players often scoff at the notion of paying a sub for a game they already payed for. The UI could easily be reworked to accomodate the ps3/xbox controller with the 8 skill bar and menu buttons, though admittedly chat would be an obvious issue unless people use voice chat with there friends they play with or purchase a keyboard. And the technical requirements of the original GW would easily fall within the hardware specs of current gen consoles without sacrificing visual detail or performance.

And i must predict Next gen MMO's "Will be consol based" SOE once again ground breaking with something new to the MMO world :D

Nothing ground breaking here it terms of a cross-platform MMO. Final Fantasy XIV has been diong it for months now.

FF XIV? You mean FF XI have been doing it for years? And there have been others as well.

But SOE did have an Everquest based PS2 game a long time ago so they did kinda break the ground, but not with DCU.

GW2 looks like a console game but 100x better, so this would be the best thing they could do the get console gamers into the game and i will buy a PS3 in February, tired of my PS2.

Do people that own PS3 not own a PC? Its scrazy but...get it for your PC if u own one?

Like Guild Wars im sure Guild Wars 2 will run on the lowest specs possible and a PS3 should be capable of handling it

I like the idea of console mmo's, but i dont think mmo's made for pc should be ported over, you have to sacrifice way too much.

Dont belive me? standing example, DA:O! Thoe single player that game was way better on the pc in terms of UI. But thats just one of many problems.

Games like DCUO are fine on console, they are strait forward staple mmos.. Hell wow could be ported, but lag issues due to lack of alot of seams and way too many skills for a console controller to use.. And trying to explain to a console gamer they need to pay a sub fee, is one thing.. they dont like that as is... ok here an example..

"Hello everyone, im (insert producer here). Im here to tell you that our next gen mmo (insert generic name here) is in devlopment to be put on your PS3!". Now it gets people attention, but then the fine print comes in to be capable to handle most mmo's today.  You pay $50-60 for the game itself, then another $15 a month, (and to make it doable on a ps3, due to most large scale ui's) another $40 for the unique controller to play the game. Well of course you can run to your local wal mart and pick up a generic mouse/keyboard for about $20, but lets face it! console games are normaly played from someones couch or gaming chair, or the players bed w/e. tell you what, grab your keyboard and mouse with your mousepad, walk over to you couch and try and do something on your computer, (or pretend). Try to balance that keyboard on your lap with yout mouse next to you on the seat beside you or on the arm rest.. not verry comfortable or easy to use.

Anyway back on track, to keep a general advanced ui for a console mmo is HARD! not enough keys, and with the example ablove, trying to tell a console gamer that if he watns to play a good mmo he would have to pay $90 to $100 bucks right from the get go (excluding the possible collecters edition). That is PR SUICIDE. Even without the sub fee!

Maybe letting a two player mode where two characters can be logged in on one ps3 and play together. with heavy support on voice chat.

ps: DCUO, while being a great game, absolutely failed at the socialisation in both pc and ps3 version of the game, not offering a different UI for PC, while never planned to have cross platformed action, is completely stubborn and stupid.

Ignorance is awesome on this site.I'm sick of seeing people saying a console mmo cannot or will not ever be successful when compared to pc mmos.I think people are just afraid of a successful console.I'm pretty sure that Everquest Online Adventures at its peak had more subs then some of the garbage games out now/recently released. Its chat functions were great. Its socialization aspect worked well.Farming elite mobs with a group of people in it was as fun as farming anything i ever farmed in WoW.

DC has a built in voice chat but an awful chat system i give you that but if a company like SOE  took the time to update the graphics and make a 2nd Everquest Online Adventures for ps3 i dont see why it wouldn't hold over 250k-500k or more considering how popular mmos are now days vs back then when the first game was released.

As far as the keyboard argument.Another pointless point really,If people spend $150-$200 if not more for good gaming keyboards/mice for pc then im sure console gamers would have no issue dropping a little money on something like http://store.video-game-central.com/ps3-sony-wireless-keypad.html when they didn't wanna use the built in voice chat that could be used as well.

Back on Topic..Will GW2 make it to PS3? Doubtful but if it did i wouldn't instantly claim it would be a failure.Id much rather see a remade EQOA with next gen Graphics released on PS3 then GW2.The first EQOA was underrated/under appreciated for the fun enjoyable game it was and last i heard it still has active servers. The Server i was on when it came out(before WoW) is said to still have active players Castle Lightwolf i think it was called.

EQOA wasn't cross-platform but you are correct in them breaking ground with console mmo's.It was PS2 exclusive but it was the first and most enjoyable mmo i have played to date.I liked it more then i liked any pc mmo i ever played and would drop any game made to play and updated EQOA2 for ps3.I think what he meant was DC wasn't the first successful game to have a pc/console mmo.

Another problem with porting alot of mmo's to the console is hardware capabilities. Generaly a pc is alot more powerfull then the ps3, And while i know you will want to argue this, the diference between ps3 and pc is coding and optimization, Console coding/optimization are verry far ahead of the pc simply becasue they need to be!

As for ps3 graphics, The RSX GPU is  the equivalnt to a nvidia 7900gt graphics card. specs are 550MHz, and 256mb of gddr3 ram 1400MHz on a 128-bit memory bus. To most pc gamers this is like stoneage tech.

The ps3 also only has 512 mb of ram on the board.

In reality, that is not even close to being comptetive with modern pcs, and even with advanced coding and extreme optimization a ps3 would be hevily taxed by a high end mmo, this is the just graphics wise, thats not even includeing the huge game, heavy on the HDD, and older ps3s would loose over half their space to a large mmo (or even all). Then there is also the inovating mechanics, and verry large zones would most likely have to be cut up so the ps3 or the xbox 360 to run it.
