The pve skill Pain Inverter in GW. That skill was so OP versus hard hitting bosses it wasn't even funny. Get a few people using it in a party and watch the boss literally kill itself from 100% health in less than a second.

I liked GWs but never found myself playing it too much for one reason or another, but I plan to make up for that time in GW2. That said, this sounds very interesting. What was the mechanic behind it? Sounds sort of like a HP swap from TCGs.
probably lineage 2 skills. Looked very good and are awesome without breaking gameplay by creating gay ballerina animation that take 1 hour while your enemy is already 10 yards away
Also in l2 the sound was very most loud and intense when a crit happened and the animation was a lot more intense. Damn i miss l2, if only wasnt a crappy grindfest with fail pvp balance wise

It isn't a swap, it is one of the many disable-skills in GW1 which damage the foe everytime he attacks/moves/uses a skill/casts a spell.

Like Alot said it is pretty much a disable. What that particular skill did was that turn the mobs damage against them. So instead of hurting you, it would harm itself.
GW had a lot of these type of skills. The mesmer class is pretty much famous for having a bunch of these skills (i.e. the skill Panic will interrupt nearby foes when using a skill).
in ragnarok online, monk had such powerful hit called guillotine fist that could kill any player with one hit, you had to use all your energy/mana to use it but it would really make devastating damage... oh i loved that
also in same game stalkers divest all (stealing all your gear from you for few minutes) made players quite impotent and annoyed.
one of my favorite in other games, non mmo games was diablo 2 necromancers corpse explotion or some of the curses such as amplify dmg and iron maiden

I see. Sounds like fun, hope to see some of that return in GW2. Cuz it was looking a lil' just clicky (which I can handle).
Any other fans of EQ1 Wizard's Ice Comet? I never got it myself, never played a wizzy, but I helped my friend form it and make it and that seemed like it took forever. Then we went merrily about on the pvp servers having people chase my rogue into a face full of death. The animation was cool too!
Yes! I was going to say Ice Comet. So here's mine:
1) EQ1 druid/shaman's Spirit of Wolf, a simple but legendary spell that everyone wanted.
2) EQ1 mage's Call of Hero, being able to summon your allys from anywhere in the world to you, idk it was cool. Druid/Wizard teleports tie with this
3) City of Hero's superspeed, flying, and teleporting.
4) WoW Deathknight's Army of the Dead - yeah nuff said
5) EQ1 Enchanter's messemerize and KEI (crack for mana)

Ohhh, your number 4 reminded me of that "Gang Attack" skill thug Masterminds got in CoV. Love the visual dots.
1) Kal Ort Por. Instant, truly "instant" meaning no loading screen or severe loading times for units and such, teleportation to any location in the world.
2) Vas Rel Por. Opens a portal to anywhere in the world that you, friends, enemies, random newb, and even monsters could travel through.
3) Taming/charm that doesn't cripple the npcs ruining risk vs reward. Pick a game, there was been several.
4) Rage of Zomm. Not a great ability but its fun to summon giant pets.
5) Voice graft. How else am I supposed to carry on a conversation with my pet?
Forever looking for employment. Life is rather dull without it.
Lineage 2 - Silent Move, sneaking my way past mobs as a replacement in an exp group was awesome. Silent Move + Fake Death was also awesome and saved my ass many of times.
I really only have one and that'd be Mind Control from vanilla WoW. As a 60 priest I frequently mind controlled Alliances players into attacking, and subsequently being killed by, "friendly" NPC guards.
But anyone remember Bushido Blade and the very non-bushido sand in the eyes move? Some environment interaction like that could be had in just about all MMO genres now. I mean flashbang confusion is cool and all, but really a fist full of sand to the face works well too.
CS 1.6 Map Dust Me and my AWP waiting terrorist to come,1 shot and 3 terrorists gets bullet in their heads. My favorite ability in games is gamers own skill.

GW, mesmer's Empathy and Backfire. Always loved going against overagressive Sins and Ele's

Hmm, hard post. So many games, and my memory is shotty.
DAoC - Theurgist spammable pets, so much fun (air - stun lock)
CoH - Fulcrum Shift - Kinetic Defenders were so much fun. Also loved Hurricane from the Storm Defender.
FFXI Monk - Hundred Fists & Asuran Fists
Thief - SATA and any Dagger WS
Warrior - Provoke - Just really loved the animation and sound.

The more I think about this the more I think about CoH/V.
Caltrops! It's in a few sets there, and it's such a simple but cool CC spell.
DAOC
Egg of Youth
Level 10 ability
AOE Insta res (all in radius), usable anytime to pwn face
15 min cooldown
Close second
Thornweed Field (esp. when placed at AMG OR MMG in Emain )
Non MMO move,
Hey I'm the King, I can do this..
