Legend PvP ability descriptions?

Excalaber2Excalaber2 Member UncommonPosts: 360

Hey all,

Does anyone happen to know what the deal is with PvP Ability descriptions?  I tried discussing this with the DCUO community but was told to just keep playing and experimenting.  Is there any way (or even a website) that describes the abilities of Batman for example?  Or, is this currently a "TODO" for them?  I read a PvP guide and understand blocking, counter-blocking, and interruptions....but I have no idea which ability does what (e.g. as Batman how do I break an opponent's block?  Also, what ability do I have to interrupt the opponent?).

I have experimented and I think I'm getting better at it....but it would really help to simply read a description.  (I still don't know what the 6th ability does...it creates a little drone).  I'm currently asking this question because if I keep playing to experiment, it's not fair to other players who lose a match because I decided to play a new Legend for 3 games in a row resulting in suckage.

Thanks in advance. =)

There are a few things you need to know about legends PvP to start.

First:  Legend character skills do not equal player character skills.

What does that mean?  It means that eventhough Batman is a Martial Arts character,  he doesn't have ALL of the martial arts combos that your martial artists has.    This goes for all characters.  Huntress will not have all of the dual pistols combos,  etc.   Right now its really a crap shoot on what combos are available for your desired characters.

Second:  Legends characters power icons are relatively the same icons  as their power set brothers

What does that mean?  Well it means if you see an icon that looks like the batarang iconic power,  its likely the batarang iconic power.  If you see a move that looks like the Acrobatics lunge forward/back  its likely the acrobatics lunge forward/back.

Third:  Legends characters have unlimited use of trinket/consumables.

Pretty self explanatory there.  Slot 7 is your consumable which is your health potion,  use it, even if the icon is bugged and you can't see it,  its there,  use it when you're low on health and use it frequently.   Your trinket item is used to negate control abilities for a short while (at least for most characters)  so use that too.

Last but not least,  the power sets:

No I will not be going through and telling you what each of them do,  one, because I haven't played ALL of the characters,  I feel nightwing is just a throwaway character, and two,  I can't remember all of the moves by heart and I'm not in a place where I can get on the game and make a handy dandy guide.

What I can do is give you the general synopsis here.

Slot 1 is generally a knockback power.  This should be your most used power by far.  It is usable when you are knocked down, and usable when you are stunned or held.  Use it every time you are stunned, held or knocked down while you wait to regain control.   This will knock the other characters back and give you a moment of protection.  Most characters have this ability, in fact I can't think of one that doesn't right now.

Slot 2 is generally a pull of some type, or a stun, ranged of course.

Slot 3 is usually another ranged attack power, though it varies.

Slot 4, 5 and 6,  Generally used for 2 movement powers like the acrobatics lunge,  and the last being a utility power.   Can't remember what batman or robins 6th power is,  but for Joker/Huntress it is the weapon switch ability -- which is VERY important for those characters.

In all honesty,  you probably only need to concern yourself with powers 1-3  and 6-8.  Characters like Bane may be slightly different in their sets but I can't remember the location of some of his powers,  and I believe he has a supercharge too,  but I don't use him that much so I can't recall.

    Hope this helps.

I'm sure one will be made eventually but seeing as the game hasn't been released yet it is not available yet unless its on a fansite somewhere.

AWESOME post.  That was extremely helpful and exactly all I needed!  Thanks very much.  With some testing, I can really build on this and know what the heck I'm doing.
