People with VIP access got them in a newsletter from Rift, I think only VIP, but not sure if others got them also. The keys are safe, they are from Trion.

No, you dont need to be VIP to receive it. I had applied only for 3rd event with casual key and got 25use VIP code.

Yeah, takes a while but after a bit you should get another e-mail confirming that you're in and providing you with additional info about d/l, scheduling, etc.
