Do Europeans like DC & Marvel Comics?

I was wondering if Europeans like DC & Marvel Comics. Can anyone answer that? I’m not referring to American theme heroes such as Captain America and Superman. I’m just wondering if they dig the exaggerating genre of super heroes in tights saving the day and villains eager to kill them.

PS, not including the Russians since it was only yesterday that the iron curtain was opened to them. No offense.

We have alot more Marvel then DC here. DC is essentially Superman och Batman. But we are  verycarzy about the whole superhero thing ; )

It is a bit funny when you talk about Captain Amerika, were was he fighting in the 40´s : )

In the last 2 decades in Germany DC and Marvel has become VERY popular. Lots of comic stores and sales. Probably not as popular as in America, but quite.

There is one difference though. The idea of patriotism sounds VERY silly and absurd to every German. All the American flag waving and huzzah-ing about the nation and national values is something any German from today would find laughable and silly, so episodes or heroes a lot based on "patriotism" ideas has little chances here. So we love Batman or the X-Men here a lot, but types like Captain America or "Uncle Sam" or what most Germans would just find childish. We are however a bit tired of every 2nd Villain being either German or at least having a German accent. It gets old.

Can't speak about Europe in general.
