How does BM work?

Do you have to give up points in your own framework to learn BM stuff? Is it worth getting a sludge panther as a pet to help you kick some butt in pve? Or do they die to a stiff breeze and end up just being a waste of points?

You will have to devote some of your expertise points to Beast Master in order for your pet to be effective. You can use as little as one point to get the defensive bonuses from a pet and drag it around dead or invest far more to make your pet more defensive or offensive.
Pets can be excellent tanks in PvE combat and are great in 1v1 PvP, but in mass pvp they tend to get lost in the crowd and ripped apart pretty quickly.

Unfortnuately those are both blocked to me now...will have to check in ten months when I get back to civilization....
