Most fun I've had in an MMO in a long time!

I just recently jumped back into the WAR for the first time since a little over a year ago, thanks in part to the 14-Day Re-Enlistment campaign. While I haven't resubbed yet, I must say that I'm having a blast! Also, I should mention that I'm still getting a feel for the game again and I'm sure haven't experienced or toyed with all that's new and shiny yet.

I'm still up in the air in regards to the whole buy a level initiative, as I don't know enough about it and haven't yet taken the time to do the necessary research, however I'm not sure I'm to keen on the precedence it sets. With that being said, please leave related responses in the appropriate thread.

Now one thing I can say, being one of those burned by the whole multiple charge fiasco, the best thing about the re-enlistment to me, is the fact that I didn't have to give them my bank/credit-card info. I received a 14-day trial with no questions asked, which is nice.

Anyhow, like I've seen a few other posters state, the game is much improved with the biggest difference for me being how smooth the game plays and runs compared to before. I would say it's on par with Aion now, which is saying something. Before, WAR felt very clunky to me.

The graphics are another thing that I'll say has improved, at least in my eyes. I was always a fan of the WAR setting and I believe the improved graphics help to improve the ambiance. There's just something about all the destruction seen in the game from demolished building/keeps/castles to the sheer amount of things burning. It really sets the mood apart from all that pretty, warm and fuzzy scenery you get in other games. There are definitely some warm/fuzzy areas in WAR, but there is a plethora of dark and brooding going on in which the improved graphics/lighting seems to emphasize.

Another thing I've always liked about this game was all of the choices laid out that help set your character apart from others. In addition to the talents or Mastery Abilities (as they are called in WAR) that you see in many MMOs, you also have Tactics and Morale Abilities to further differentiate your character from your fellow player. But, I would be remiss if I didn't mention one of my favorite things, which have no statistical impact to my knowledge and that are Trophies. I realize that it may not mean much to some, but I really like how you can customize the look of your character via the multiple trophy slots.

While it was bound to happen given the minuscule amount of servers WAR now has, the game now seems to be quite active. One thing that bothered me before I left was the fact that seldom were the majority of PQs I approached ever populated with players, nor were the open RvR areas. I'm sure that can be attributed to having been on an under populated server, though.

Finally, among other additions, I love the WAR Report as bringing it up tells you where the action is. That was a much needed addition and shows that Mythic finally started to listen to their playerbase, albeit it may still be selective; I don't know as I haven't participated on the forums for some time now.

I really wished this game had made the Skaven a third faction to help this games sub numbers. I definitely feel that could have been the momentum needed to push this game to where it needs to go. In addition, after seeing the results from Turbine's recent moves, I can't help but think that going F2P would also help. One thing you can't argue with is that a game so PvP-centric needs to retain a healthy playerbase in order to be successful, much more so than a game that is focused on PVE. As much hate as has been thrown at this game, myself included, and when you consider the losses to their staff, I feel I need to commend Mythic somewhat for its effort in making this game better.

I can't emphasize enough though on how great of an IP Mythic has in their hands and pray that it stays alive!

    Enjoy going into T4...fresh.

T1-3 might be better now that they emptied out LotD but T4 will probably always stay the same. You usually get rolled by the RR80s who are still playing for some ungodly reason.

because they find it more enjoyable than the other MMOs out there?

If I were to take a Witch Elf stab in the dark, that would be my guess.

Like the thread title states, I've been having more fun than I have in awhile. Call me cooky, but I've been yelling out things like "Bang!" as my Dwarf Engi picks off a fleeing player just when they think they've made it to safety, or "run litt'l dwarf, as fast as ur stumpy littl' legs 'il carry yu" immediately after running over a hill to be surprised by 10 or more Destros on the other side running right toward me.

I've been rolled a couple of times already, that comes with the territory in a game like this. But, that doesn't bother me, I sometimes enjoy being the underdog. It's been fun and nice to once again get caught up in a game. Thats' what games should be about.

Things may change when I get to T4, but honestly, it's been a long time since another game has gotten my blood pumping like this.

I agree with you.  I tried the re-enlistment a few weeks ago, and had a great time.  Of course, I played it for a little over a year after launch, so I already liked it, but this most recent go-around reminded me of all the things I liked about the game.

I'm currently playing another MMO (Mortal Online), so won't be resubbing to this game anytime soon, but it's definitely on my list to replay again at some point.  Really a very fun game.

Hell hath no fury like an MMORPG player scorned.

I think it's great that you are loving the game.  I've been back about a month or so now and am still having fun.  Don't listen to other people that tell you a game isn't worth playing, just use your own judgement.

I've been playing a DOK and a BO at level 32-35 and with both I feel like I can contribute decently.

Heals are still heals, and my tanking abilities still make me pretty strong, regardless of gear or levels.

Tier 4 has been lots of fun so far.

I just went into T4 fresh as you say with an IB. I did ok, not awesome but didn t expect to. That said I know I have a long haul ahead of me to compete, but if you pick your fights right or have a decent guild to help you out it s not that bad as most say.
