I decided to check FFXIV again after 2 weeks break since my account is still free2play cause of free time bonus they added.
Will be direct to the point with pros and cons I saw since last time I left the game pissed off.
Pros:
* Lag is fixed and tried it on my high end pc and my old one on both I could sell items to npc without any delay and in general didnt see any lag at all.
* Outside Ul'Dah going towards Drybone Camp there were aggro antilion mobs and they were removed and replaced with many low level mobs like it should be, so grinding at low level is way easier now and feels same as FFXI where you don't run out of mobs and can even camp the same area for 2-3 levels.
Cons:
* Population has droped by 500 people per server at any time, did test on 2 servers(low pop, and high pop) at peek time and chill out time. Example Mysidia is one of the major servers and at peek was 1400-1500 2 weeks ago was 1900-2000, and later on was 900-1000. Even FFXI has at least 1500-2000 at any time and when I use to play had 3000++.
* Doesn't have an MMO feeling cause you see everyone on his own and no chat at all, I feel like playing single player.
Attention: This is not a fanboy/troll just a gamer that wants to enjoy a great game not a broken one.
Comments
I left the game about a week ago, lag still existed when dealing with item transactions. During peak times during the weekend also encountered lag during battle.

Tell me how it goes after their major patch
Drop the next-gen marketing and people will argue if the game itself has merit.
So Shqip, now that you've voiced you opinions on the current state of the game, will you continue to play once your free trial is over and the population has drop a lot more?
And also.. what is your observations with people AFK selling and other things that imply they aren't actually "playing".

I didn't wanted to sound like a troll and didn't say that I'm not intending to pay per month after Nov. 22nd, and mainly doing that to pressure SE to either shut down or do major changes. To me it's not things have to be fixed but things have to be changed cause the way they chose is not working for me and many many other people.
I was a loyal FFXI player and I was so sure FFXIV would rock that bought CE and was thinking hey I'm 33 this prolly will be my last MMORPG so lets burn like 6-8 years and get most out of it, unfortunetly this game does not even has half depth of FFXI and whatever they changed from their previous successful mmo was the wrong things, let me elaborate:
* FFXI had hands down the best jobs(classes) ever seen in a mmorpg or rpg to me, I disslike all classes of FFXIV.
* FFXI had best weapon skills animation of all games I ever played online or single player, I hate the skills in FFXIV.
* FFXI NPCs every single of them had a story/quest giving you motivation to complite the tasks they requested, FFXIV has only aetheryte aka crystal you talk to do levequests(boring).
* FFXI had a bad UI compared to other MMOs but superb compared to FFXIV.
* FFXI was group focused game and community was the best ever in any MMOs I played, FFXIV no one ever /shouts or /say is dead quiet.
* FFXI had slow as hell combat and that was the weak point of it guess what FFXIV kept that and removed all the good points I mentioned above.
* Auction House, Mog House, Chocobos, Airship, Way more maps and NPC I can go like this all day ...
* And last FFXIV will have cash shop WTF!!! lol game is not even 10% as good as FFXI and they want to add cash shop.
I will check forums for the changes of Nov/Dec patches regardless cause you never know, and old saying is never say never ^^
It's a high % of people AFK bazaaring.
Sounds like tons o' fun.

Its turning out to be the later years of FFXI, a dwindling community, 90% of the player base averaging around 0-3 hours total a daylogged on with the rest sitting around with a constant bazaar.
I tried it during the Open Beta and decided it wasn't worth the money. If it goes Free to Play completely then I will give it another shot. =P
So what game are you gonna play until then?
