This vid says it all to me,everything looks like it's working. The only other game i have seen in the last 12 months that actually impressed me is GW2. Now to think this game is sandbox and skilled based really put's it first on my list.
Ferres ranger with warrior skills. We are also in beta 3 out of 4 and release is meant for 1st half 2011.
No where have they said anything about free to play.
Triple A MMOs in Korea are subscription just like they are in the West, given that this guy has only ever worked on subscription MMOs before I think its a pretty good chance that ArcheAge will be a subscription MMO as well. Especially as he's pumping over $100 million into it, which is about ten times more than the most ever spent on developing a free to play MMO.
Also, release for South Korea is expected late 2011, so we won't see it until next year, and that is only if someone picks up the publishing rights for it, which no one has at the moment.
On another note, Jake Song is the Korean father of the MMO, he is the person that basically founded the MMO movement in South Korea and made it popular with Lineage 1, so ArcheAge may be ambitious but it has the biggest name in industry in Korea making it, which is going to go a long way to ensuring they get the time and money they need to make it right.
screenshots look like any other asian mmo, i really wonder if this is going to be any better than most of the mmos that korea vormits 100 different games every day, im sorry guys but im really cynical to asian mmos.. like someone said already, they put effort on the graphics but the world and content is complitely forgotten... and i have to say that evem with graphics they usually put more effort on characters but the enviroment looks as bad as any game that was released 10 years ago
The beauty of the visuals are only matched by the ambition of the design of this game. I have said it before and I will say it again: It will be the East that will push this genre forward, not the West.
You are exactly right my friend. I love what they are doing with mmos in the east.
I'll just throw in a "me too".
Like Skyrim? Need more content? Try my Skyrim mod "Godfred's Tomb."

it's ok to be cynicist, but be an EDUCATED cynicist? Otherwise is just negative ignorance.
it's blatantly obvious, with the tiniest piece of research that this isnt the 'typical' korean MMO.
the enviroment looks as bad as any game that was released 10 years ago
I am sorry, but what?
I am not even sure what you are watching. the environments are simply stunning from what we have seen so far.

My last hope for a true successor to lineage 2.

Arch Age looked good until I saw this video.
I hate tiny 3rd person characters.
Collector's editions are scams.

"I will Turn your name into a synonym for weakness"
Finally a game that makes me excited again, can't wait for this! Hopefully this'll bring back the good ol' MMO feeling.
This game is starting to look pretty amazing
