Personally, I think it looks ridiculous. Seems that people forget the "RP" in MMORPG stands for "Role Playing".
While I understand that it is hard to make a "realism" argument against bunny hopping while you are shooting fireballs and such, but there has to be a valid "silly" argument.
My example is the below:

I bunny hop, and I'm even more likely to do it around people whom I know it irritates and in games full of people who look down on it.
Seriously, lighten up people.
After watching the video, that sort of thing "does" annoy me in PvP. I mean, we're playing MMORPGs not Unreal Tournament. Winning a battle should mean you know how to play your class and have better equipment more than it should mean you make your character impossible to hit.
Jumping is roleplaying, but jumping repeatedly is anti-roleplaying?
Makes no sense to me.
OP, people like you make MMORPG's look silly : p

Real life brings repetition and pointlessness too. The only thing real life offers is Great graphics. Its kinda expensive too and way to dependent on the cash shop. Totally pay to win as well. No thank you. Ill stick to my games.
I'd wish if mmos made jumping like on mount & blade...
Yes it's usefull sometimes to dodge a hit or 2 but you can't bunny hop, after jumping you have to wait like 2 seconds before jumping again this way you use it when you really need it not to be stupid.
I voted no because I have no idea what Im supposd to do in a game I can't jump in circles, while talking on vent, while thinking of something to do. How many of us have been talking on vent and realized you just rode in a full circle around Dalaran 50 times? Or is it just me?
Not sure that silly would be the word - but the word that comes to mind violates the RoC.
A guy wearing full plate, holding bags with a couple additional sets of full plate, enough weapons for a small army, all the pots, food, loot, etc... jumping repeatedly - that goes beyond silly.
The girlfriend looked over during the weekend while I was PvPing with a melee class - she asked me if I was skipping rope. I was like, what? She said from the angle she was watching from, that with the weapons swings and my jumping, it looked like my character was skipping rope...
I miss the MMORPG genre. Will a developer ever make one again?

I guess it has something to do with the WoW generation vs. games like UO and Asheron's Call. Just seems like if people want to bunny hop and do crazy hyper stuff like that, they should go play Quake.

It looks absolutely horrible and makes the gameplay a bit too twitchy.

bunny hopping or jumping around?. Bunny hopping is auctually a skill u must teach ur self to do in some games. Games such as CSS, nexus. require precise timing and will allow u to gain speed and smooth turning if done right.
As for a MMO. Depends. Wow?, no autolock doesn't matter.
MMOFPS, or something with out a auto lock?. Yes i guess it can be frustrating because then the game should remove MMO lable and be marked as action/battle/ FPS?. Or have a nice delay between jumps, or force halted landing where u cant move a lil after a jump. making the jump be bad or good depending when used.
Really, its debatable imo.
Taking the poll literally I realized that yeah, of course it looks silly.
But looking silly doesn't matter much if it creates a fun gameplay dynamic.

I thnk the only people that don't are EVE players, but they substitute it with spinning their ships in circles.
There isn't a "right" or "wrong" way to play, if you want to use a screwdriver to put nails into wood, have at it, simply don't complain when the guy next to you with the hammer is doing it much better and easier. - Allein

nope, bunny hopping is fine. not sure why so many people start foaming at the mouth when they see it.
If I were in superhuman shape I'd bunny hop everywhere I went. It's more fun than walking.
Nope.
However, Elitist gamers raging over bunny hopping tend to make an MMO look Silly :-) I mean, at the end of th day, its just a game.

In my opinion, I find bunny hopping silly but I don't mind other players doing it.
It doesn't bother me to the point where I would make a forum post about it...but I do think certain games should be without the ability to do it in such a fashion as the OP is complaining about.
PLAYING: NOTHING!!!
PLAYED:FFXI, LotRO, AoC, WAR, DDO, Megaten, Wurm, Rohan, Mabinogi, RoM
WAITING FOR: Dust 514
I think bunny hopping looks silly, but how about constant running in cities and buildings? Doesn't that look a bit silly when dozens of armed characters run instead of jog or walk even indoors.
Ofc at the gameplays PoV it makes perfect sense to travel the quickest way possible much like the bunny hopping while dueling/PvPing, but it breaks immersion if you think the game as an RPG.
One solution would obviously be having collision detection in games that lean towards a meaningful end game PVP; you couldn't jump through your opponent and land safely on the spot where he can't hit or see you. Also, tactical position should have a bigger role especially in small group heavy PvP games; if you jump and get hit, you should probably fall down (how many games there are where you can fall down?).
It does to me.

Wouldn't consider myself an elitist, I just like a certain level of immersion in my MMOs. I guess immersion isn't really high on the priority list of the newer generation of RPG players (yes an MMORPG is an RPG).
I would make the distinction that MMOFPS have room for bunny hopping, but I do not think it belongs in MMORPGs.

This was not an elitist poll. Bunnyhopping sucks. Death to all bunnyhopping, huzzah!
I voted "no" simply because you quickly adapt to seeing it and soon don't notice it anymore. People bunny hopped all the time in WoW, but I'd be so involved in yet another grind that I'd barely notice what anyone else is doing. If people need to hop to break the monotony, let them, it's not worth complaining over.
Now... that daily that's being repeated for the fifth time in a row... grr... <hop hop hop>
Oderint, dum metuant.
It looks stupid imo.
You can make the fireball arguement....If you could cast a fireball in real life, you would probably do it like you do in the game.
People can hit each other with swords in real life, and have done so a lot, never once seen real life footage, or even recreation footage showing someone bouncing in circles that was to be taken seriously.
I am all for the stamina being drained on jumps, which some games have.
Yeah its just a game, and its easy to counter, but its silly and unrealistic, even for a fantasy game.
I hope you jumpers get carpal tunnel....after your character is killed by someone with real PvP skill or jumps off of a cliff accidentally and dies!!!! Then you get caught in a death loop, because you didn't read the patch notes, and jumping takes stamina from you and you can't escape the mob at your bind, when you try to jump away!!!!
Yes it does look silly.
Not more rediculous than a warrior carrying a blade that is twice his size and weilding it like it were a piece of straw.
