The Unforgivable Macro

MadimorgaMadimorga Member UncommonPosts: 1,920

Ok, my noob protection wore off recently (but at least I got my full 24 hours in before it switched to 1 hour, you poor, even newer than me noobs!).  So anyway, I've been ganked a few times already today.  And it's okay, I can deal with it.

But there's one kind of ganker I'm going to have to KoS list.  It's the wretched guy who macros the "Do you want to forgive your killer?" option to his gank button.

No, I will not forgive you!  You sir, are the reason my gear is shit.  You sir, are the reason my dwarf has no pants!

Hahaha. Welcome to Darkfall Mag. How is it so far other than said asshattry? I know you like to craft and are somewhat of a solo player from your other threads. I recommend finding some friends fast. Good luck to you.

I like it so far.  But I haven't played long enough to be sure.  As a rough estimate, I'd say half the population is great, and half should have been drowned at birth, which still beats WoW's population.  As a bonus, sometimes even the ones who should have been drowned are pretty funny.

I don't know how social I can handle being on a daily basis, but life as an itinerant noob crafter suits me just fine at the moment.  I wander around, hit some rocks, make some weapons, bank everything I don't need right away, then go wandering a bit too far and try to outrun a wolf riding the ugliest pig I've ever seen.  What's not to like?

One of the best things about DF is the second group that should be drowned at birth you can actually try to kill. Make sure you care a 1H/Shield at all times, even when gathering mats. Inevitably you will get attacked, switch to sword/board and face your attacker. Never give your back if you can help it. In my exp, alot of gankers will be a bit surprised if you fight back, and will back away and access what you are doing.

If you have a mount you can spawn it and try and run or you can fight. Just don't give someone your back b/c they start beating on you. There are some good vids, particularily by ValRoth on youtube, that helped me. I'm not sure if those vids are still applicable to the recent changes, but the concepts are sound.

You should start a blog and post your adventures. Nostalgia is one of the few things old people like me enjoy.

Very true, last night I was mining and a red came up and started attacking me. I immediantly turned around and pulled out my 2h axe and started parrying/attacking, he pretty well immediantly backed off. Then pulled out a bow, and I pulled out my staff(my spells suck though but didnt have a bow on me) and started using magic missile. He then ran away and found another person logging a ways down, I snuck around and healed/chased him till I found him killing the dwarf that person was running away. So I ran up and started smacking him in the back, he apparently ran out of stamina and I was able to gank him taking his loot + the other miners loot(which I actually gave back). Was pretty fun.

the good news is 99% of the vet players wont ever go to newbie areas

    so ure often just fighting

    1) people who are to bad to kill anybody but a new player

    2) that 1% that likes to greid people

or 3) (most likely) a casual player who decided to try and pk u :P

Thanks, but I don't want your stuff.  I like to get my own stuff.  I made my dwarf some new pants, by the way, so let those still having nightmares about pantless dwarves rest easy now.  image

Thanks!  If only all the editors I've sent my writing to over the years were as kind!  Alas, I am a writer of the impoverished and mostly unpublished variety.

I wonder what that guy would make of a "You are forgiven, my son," macro?  I should have one of those for every time a player kills me and asks for forgiveness.  I'll have to keep track of their names.

But actually, my adventures have so far been pretty peaceful.  At least in dwarflands, the tales of relentless noob ganking were exaggerated.  I thought I'd have a rough time over the weekend, since more players were on, but apparently, many Darkfall players actually prefer a fair fight to killing me.  Go figure!
