Trouble installing

BeasyBeasy Member Posts: 12

After I select my language it tells me:  Installation require Windows Vista Service Pack 2. Please carry out a Windows update.

I'm on Windows 7 and fully updated.  Any ideas?

Fixed it.  If anyone has the same problem.. I went into the properties of the setup.exe and unchecked the compatibility mode.

Sigh.. Alright now I'm having another issue...  I get about 2/3 the way through installing and i get a, Feature transfer error... this is for data2.cab.  Apparently some DVD drives can't read it, mine seems to be one of them.  I don't have another computer to transfer it onto to transfer onto here... Any other ideas? Or know any external dvd drives I could go snatch that would work?

Any external drive should work. This is mine.

I mean an external dvd drive/burner.  I don't have access to another computer right now so I can't really get the data2.cab onto an external drive to get onto here.

Something I could go pick up at microcenter real fast, since it's right down the street...

By the way, if anyone is stuck on the patching stage for 09.19 patch, make sure you have utorrent installed, close the official FF downloader, then go to your

    Documents/My Games/FINAL FANTASY XIV/downloads/ffxiv/48eca647/metainfo

    and find D2010.09.19.0000

click on it and you should see utorrent start downloading it much faster.

It will probably be downloaded to users/"you"/ffxiv or something like that. When utorrent download is done, find the patch there and copy/paste it to

    Documents/My Games/FINAL FANTASY XIV/downloads/ffxiv/48eca647/patch

replacing the old file. Then restart the official FF download (basically start FFXIV).

The D2010.09.28.0000 file should dowbload much easier on its own, but if not, you can repeat the above procedure for it.

Try making an ISO or some other image of the DVD and see if it works mounted with deamon etc. Not sure if it will work though.

Thanks Sober55 this worked perfectly.  After waiting for 3 hours for patch that just never finished i shut the patcher down and follow your instruction.  I dowloaded that 300mb patch in 2 minutes and got the game ready to play in 5.   This post should by stickied.
