A couple of questions about EQ2X

glim3merglim3mer UncommonPosts: 154Member

Regarding the extended options, there's a few things that I'm not clear on. Firstly,

1- If I re-sub to EQ2 (regular servers) do I also get Gold access to EQ2X? Or do I need to pay for gold access regardless if I'm currently a subscriber to regular EQ2?

2- If I get gold access on EQ2X for a month, then cancel my sub, but continue to play the game and say my character is a conjurer or a shadowknight, will I still have access to my character OR will I need to buy the character pack to "unlock" my character? (The way I'm thinking about it, is if I get gold access, I pretty much unlock all class/races for good) But Im getting a feeling that is not the case, some clarification here would be VERY welcome.

3- So far, EQ2X has one server up. I'm guessing it's not a pvp server, right? Also, if it's a pve server, do we still have access to pvp in battlegrounds, etc...?

4- Is raid quality gear available for purchase on the cash shop in EQ2X? or is it all fluff items on the cash shop, other then the class/races and all the packs they have.

So far, those are the main questions I have, I know there was a few more I was wondering about earlier today, but don't seem to remember what they were right now. Ill post them later on if they come back to me.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, subscribers to EQ2 Live are granted Gold access in EQ2X for as long as they have an active EQ2 Live subscription.

2- If I get gold access on EQ2X for a month, then cancel my sub, but continue to play the game and say my character is a conjurer or a shadowknight, will I still have access to my character OR will I need to buy the character pack to "unlock" my character? If you get gold access for a month, and then let the sub lapse, the characters that are classes not included with bronze (or that you have not purchased through the marketplace) become locked.

You can unlock them by resubbing to Live, subbing to EQ2X or purchasing the class you want to unlock through the marketplace.

3- So far, EQ2X has one server up. I'm guessing it's not a pvp server, right? Also, if it's a pve server, do we still have access to pvp in battlegrounds, etc...?

Correct, it is a pve server, and Battlegrounds are unavailable currently as far as I am aware.

4- Is raid quality gear available for purchase on the cash shop in EQ2X? or is it all fluff items on the cash shop, other then the class/races and all the packs they have.

Raid quality gear is not available, the highest tier of gear available at the marketplace is Mastercrafted. There are fabled items, but they are mostly appearance items, none of them are stat gear.

    Hope that helps :)

    Thanks for the quick reply,

The other thing I forgot to bring up, is server population. I know the server pop in EQ2X is high/full, but how are the servers on EQ2? (Or atleast the busier ones, how are they doing)?

Also I'm debating what would be more worth it for someone who will definitely pay 15$/month, to go on EQ2X or EQ2? I guess it comes down to how are the populations on EQ2 servers. If those are dead, then Im guessing theres no point and its better to go on EQ2X one.

So how is Nagafen (pvp server) and at the same time, how are the busier EQ2 servers nowadays is what Im asking?

I'm not sure tbh, I haven't played on Live in awhile. However, from what I have been told Live server populations are in pretty bad shape, even on the more popular servers like AB.

Many, many vets have left for EQ2X just for the benefit of a heavy population server, so that in itself carries its own message.

2X is, unfortunately (due to the flawed payment model at all levels of access), the place where most people are playing at the moment, and more than likely for the remaining forseeable future.

You get more for your 15 bucks a month from Live, but with not much of a Live community remaining it makes the experience lackluster at best. 2X costs the same and offers you slightly less (if you are unwilling to make marketplace purchases to compensate), but the population is heavy and a great community has already formed on Freeport (the 2X server).

Nagafen is mostly dead from what I have been told.

Some of the servers on live. Antonia bayle, Crushbone,Lucan De'lare, And the pvp server Nagafen are doing fine population wise. So are the other servers. but the ones I stated are the busiest.  The only problem with them is they are top heavy. There are lots of lower level alts running around, but it is hard to find groups leveling.  Most of the alts will power level using thier higher level guildmates to help them.  I;'m not saying it is impossible to find groups just a little harder.

On the extended server you will have no problem finding groups through out your leveling. However even going gold there you will be restricted on races.  You only get the same 4 races as bronze and Silver, so if you wanted another race you would have to pay to unlock them.

    Now if you subscribe to the live servers you do not automatically get gold on extended. The only wys to get gold on server being subscribed to live is either;

Copy a charecter over to extended for $35.00 US. which that character is the only toon that would be gold. Any other character you made on extended would only be bronze status.

Get the Station Access Pass which is $30.00/month

I have Station Access myself, and play on the extended server and Crushbone. I have been an access subscriber for the past 5 years. I don't see any need to change right now. With the pass i get to play all SOE games just for the purchase price. Plus I get 12 characters on live. So fo me it is worth it.

I have to admit though I have more fun playing on the extended server right now doing the lower level content that I have not done in a long time. I'm playing with a couple of friends who never played an MMO and it is a great way to bring them into the genre.

So the choice is yours. Do what you think is in your best interest and have fun. I don't think either way you will go wrong.

    Hope this helps.
