Now that we got our next gen MMOG Vindictus, most spit on this nice game, wtf?

slim26slim26 Member UncommonPosts: 645

This is the type of MMOG we wanted for years: actions, freedom of movement, freedom of attacking, Smart AI, destructive environment, great pull you in missions: story quest, side quest, sub quest, errand quest, secrete missions, spy missions, part time jobs. What about the awesome graphics even on completely low settings, great character animations, great combat animation. What about the EPIC boss fights, boss AI system that acts like human control, gear that looks  realistic game wise, crafting etc, I can list more but you get the point.

So is it because it is from South Korea or you few thinks the MT will be bad (P2W) from doing some research the item shop is just makeup and stuff, you cannot pay to win in Vindictus. Or, because South Korea is on another level in making these type of MMORPG/MMOG and most Americans not liking that "fact" wth is the deal seriously? This is like a dream come true for millions of people but most of you act like it is nothing new, bs... it is completely new technology  in MMO development (WAKE THE HELL UP AND ENJOY THE NEW GEN) because TERA, C9, B&S and Aion 3.0 is next on the list, peace. IF you few do not like what so many many gamers asked for, so what the hell do you few want as a MMORPG?

You may have gotten your next gen MMOG, but not everybody is just looking for a MMOTPS.  Looking at the site for the game, um - so this is something that has actually been released, cause - you could not tell from the site.  It appears to be...well...

...glad that you have found your game, but do not speak for the rest of us.  Thanks.

I miss the MMORPG genre. Will a developer ever make one again?

I don't like not being able to make my own character.

  • marcuslmmarcuslm Member UncommonPosts: 263

I can't argue that the game is pretty, has nice animations, the combat is fun, etc.

Here are some of my issues with the game...

    1. Gender locked classes and only two to choose from

    2. Very small hub town

    3. Very limited gear options (everyone runs around looking pretty much the same)

    4. The instanced quest areas are extremely small, closed in, and linear (at least the ones I have done so far)

    5. The game is VERY repetitive in general....you have to keep running the same quests over and over, kill the same monsters over and over, so you can mine for certain item drops

    6. Everything in the Marketplace is super expensive and the gold drops are pitiful

It's not a bad game, the combat is certainly fun. However, it certainly isn't the MMO we have all been waiting for.

at least you gave it that much of a chance. I saw the two characters, saw that I couldn't create my own, and left the menu and uninstalled it.

The whole name thing is just a gimmick, so instead of Warrior and Assassin they used names /shurg.   It may have something to do with the story line later on but who knows.

While the game is not the seconding comming of the messiah, it is diffrent then the what I am used to.  After raiding in EQ2 i have grown very tired of spamming spell rotations.  Instead of left clicking a leaver to lower a bridge you hack at the supports, again possibly a gimmick but a fun one.

The biggest issue with the game is the lag that is group play.  If i actully knew something about computers and networks i could tell you some reasonable explinations on why it happens.  However i think it will hold me over untill GW2 comes out.

And for the comment about ftp, hey its your loss, while many ftp games are crap one could say the same thing about ptp games.

Even a lot of the complaints i've read on the nexon forums from people who gave it a go, just had to do with having such high expectations and/or not looking into what the game actually was before playing it.

It is pretty much everything I expected though, an all around fun game to play, and to me if something is just fun then what else matters?

Seems most opinions on it are a bit jaded due to it either not being what that person hyped it up as, or it just simply doesn't have all the possible customization options to make it as indepth as some other mmo's which could serve as a second life (and sometimes life itself..).

But it's just a game, meant to pass time and have some fun like any other game should be, difference being it took a somewhat different/new approach to it's gameplay (for an online game anyways), and quite personally that is a welcome change since the standard point/click/wait/spam12345 style of combat has become a bit over used and stale over the years.

The whole f2p=pay2win, and it's not an mmo arguements are both kind of weak reasons to give it an automatic pass like some users here seem to feel.

Yes it will have a cashshop eventually, but if you've actually played the game you should realize no ammount of CS advantages could ever unbalance it enough to even notice, since it is purely a skill/technique based game highly reliant on timing and paitences.

No matter how well geared or how many other enhancements someone might have, none of that will change a thing if they aren't a good player (which I havn't seen many of, most lv20+ max geared still can't even solo some of the bosses in the first group of stages).

It's one of few games where money cannot buy a person everything to dominate every other single person out there, and there simply isn't enough of "skill" based f2p's out there, even less in the rpg catagory, but once you really sink your teeth into this one it should become pretty apparent that vindictus is indeed that way.

As for not being an mmo, think that term's meaning is a little too litteral to some people, won't argue that it doesn't exactly have that massive appearance, but it is online and there are always people to play with, and there's no sign of that ever going to change, so what more could you want?

  • natuxatunatuxatu Member UncommonPosts: 1,364

Well I've never heard of it really... and I come on here every day... granted I don't always pay attention to the main stories and what not but yeah... maybe that's why people aren't playing.

If people hate it or spit on it then i can't say anything to that

This game is trash, actually I am yet to play an asian f2p mmo that isn't trash and I tried a lot. They are usually just a god awful game shell built around pure money making scheme. Also the whole f2p term is just a hoax, people end up spending way more money on "f2p" then pay to play after they commit to playing the game.

This game was the final straw for me though, don't think I will be trying anymore of the f2p asian games.

Did you even actually try it? Sounds to me you're just stereotyping, like pretty much everyone else this thread is aimed at.

The only way it's CS could ever cause people to spend more money than a standard p2p sub is if they charged for content like DDO/LOTR, havn't seen any sign of that going happen though. Already explained some reasons why it's CS doesn't have the same affect in my other post, most of which would be plain to see if someone puts a few days into the game.

No I just like to make posts about things I haven't tried. YES I tried the game it has zero depth. Run around click click click kill everything in sight without any problem. What this game is and what it is advertised are totally different.

  • EdliEdli Member Posts: 941

Is this game even a massive multiplayer? Is just an instanced game, more like monster hunter. It may be fun but is not the next gen mmo.

  • judex99judex99 Member UncommonPosts: 392

This game or C9 are next gen in combat or gfx, but lacking in other things compared to MMO's, C9  have the best combat system that i have seen in these games, but it plays like Guild Wars and thats have nothing of next gen, so we need a combination of both the combat of C9 + the game world of EQ, VG, WoW, ( insert your desired MMO here ), maybe Tera is the best approach, we will see.

Sorry, I thought you were talking about WoW. :P image

This game would probably be better if people outside USA can play it. In my view, this is at best a casual game.

How much WoW could a WoWhater hate, if a WoWhater could hate WoW?
As much WoW as a WoWhater would, if a WoWhater could hate WoW.

First off, it's not am MMORPG, let's stop calling it that. It's an online action game. Second, the main reason  people are talking shit about it is because it's going to have a "buy" system and it was an asian F2P game which don't have great rep. With that said, 9/10 talking bad about it have not played it.

Let's make this clear, you will not have any "unfair" advantage by choosing not to buy things from the store. You will be able to do everything someone buying stuff will be able to do and they will NEVER be able to get something that you get without buying. Basically what their cash system does it allows you to get farmable items faster than someone who doesn't decide to spend real cash. The positive affect here is even if you're someone deciding not to buy stuff with real cash, those who buy the higher drop rates can place those items on the AH for you to buy with in game money. It's a Win-Win system.

You can play 1-200 at your own pace or compete with someone using the $$$ system easily. You can get the required items from a boss before someone using the $$$ system does. If you don't want to pay, it will not have a negative affect on you nor will it make your character worse than someone who spends money.

The amount of content this game provides for 50$ is amazing. The graphics are awesome, the story is cool, and there is a lot of stuff to do. The gear you craft or get as drops is amazing and the classes are fun. The skill system serves as a sort of talent tree and allows your character to differ from others of the same class. The bosses and raids are fun and the grouping system is awesome. You can get into groups and have fun in seconds, no bullshit. If you want to solo, you can go in and solo. The game provides awards for soloing and grouping, it's up to you and you don't have to focus on just one.

The game isn't for some people, but that's because of the way the game's mechanics and combat works. If they dislike that part, that's fine, don't play it. But for it's genre and style, the game is superb and the best in it's class. It's an online button masher with MMORPG qualities, easy yet fun grouping, fun quests and bosses, raids, fun crafting, a story, fantastic cut scenes, cool boss and game mechanics ( lol hooks and spears ftw ). Literally the only reason someone may not like this game is the combat, and that's not because it's bad, but because it's different. All about preference, the game itself is fucking amazing.

Also, if you choose to buy the better drop rates and what have you, you would still spend less than 15$ a month. It's literally a win-win. I would buy shit just to support the Devs. for being complete bosses and coming up with this genius game. It's been ages since I booted up a game and instead of complaining constantly about shit missing or being done incorrectly, I just had fun and constantly boggled at how such a simple concept could so stupidly fun and addictive.

TL;TR : If you don't like this game, you either aren't into the combat or "town lobby" system or you haven't even played the game.

I dont really understand the claim to this being a 'next gen' game even, its even more limited than the usual asian grinders, a step backwards rather than forwards even for those... i think the reason people don't 'get it' is because theres nothing to 'get' there has to be, after all, substance to the hype, and this game, doesnt really have any substance. As has already been pointed out, as a F2P game, it doesnt really stand out from the other F2P games, so i can't see it even doing well there, considering how many other F2P games there are that have far more 'individuality' not to mention actual depth of gameplay.. hyping this game will be pointless, the flaws are too easily exposed.

  • KlizziKlizzi Member Posts: 110

Zero depth? What level are you? I mean, do you even understand the story of the game? Did you read what the quest givers tell you or follow the cut scenes? Every quest has a reason for you being there. I'm not going to bullshit people and tell them it's the most EPIC story, but there is one and it's not half bad.

I'm going to assume, mostly because I know, that you haven't actually played this game to or beyond level 20. Also, what MMO isn't click, click, click. Have you tried the caster character Evie, or the other two that aren't even shown yet that use hotkeys? Of course you haven't. Also, what is this game advertised as? It tells you it's a hack and slash with physics and that's what it is. You can literally destroy and use EVERYTHING.

  • KlizziKlizzi Member Posts: 110

Expose the flaws for us please. I'm not the largest fan of the pay system, but it's done right and isn't significant. That aside, without providing a biased view because you dislike the way the combat is done or the lobby system, tell us what the legit flaws are because I'm very curious.

What other F2P is a hack and slash combo game? What other F2P has a physics engine that lets you destroy and use everything as a weapon. What other game lets you hook a boss' leg and drag them around or hook their arm so they can't use their attacks. What other F2P game lets you spear a bear's eye out and collect it as a damn item? This game has 0 downtime, it's pure action and it still manages to throw in strategy. Don't go around saying it doesn't because the cap for the beta is level 26 and there's absolutely no way you can judge the difficulty of the game. Though if you don't know how to dodge or adapt to bosses, you're going to die all over the place.

I'd say it's plenty unique and it does everything it wants to do with little or no flaws.

  • GTwanderGTwander Member UncommonPosts: 6,035

    A. I'm loving the game.

    B. It's not the best game ever, ever.   < this is all people care about.

It lacks the general depth of other traditional MMOs, such as being able to find a random spot to afk at and spam chat for hours once you realize you're bored with the actual game, but it's great as a side-game, and simply for it's combat. People won't treat it as such though, since they only know how to spend 8+ hour stints at a time. I don't see myself getting burntout anytime soon, but then again, I didn't race through as fast as possible, or grind my ass off because of blatant perfectionism and title-chasing.

People do this crap to themselves, and it's why they end up hating a game for "making them do it".

Anyway, I'll be playing this beast for quite some time - because I know how to treat a game like this... and lol @ the "F2P is the devil" types. By all means miss out, you'd probably be stupid about how to approach a game such as this in the first place.

Not everyone is interested in 'story' .. sad but true.. and it is a shame when its ignored, but, its like the instructions to a game, how many people actually bother to read them? but i think its the depth bit that perhaps you misundertand, what your describing is a game with 'limited' options, its to be played in a certain way, with relatively few characters to choose from, that are pregenerated and not customisable to any real degree, within its own limitations, it can probably be considered a decent enough game, but because it lacks depth of gameplay, or perhaps 'scope' would be more descriptive, then it will be less appealing, im not really sure what kind of player this game would appeal to tbh, as i suspect the average MMO player would probably not even get past the character selection..

No matter what game comes out, there will be people who arent satisfied.

I personally am loving this game, the action is fun and a nice change from the norm.

not an MMO? Free 2 Play? no open world? gender locked classes?(god forbid you play a female char *gasp*)

who cares? if its fun thats all that matters..and this game IS FUN.

What exactly is so "Next-gen" about it, other than the fact that it is one of the most recent MMO's?
