I am, just for the reason that I don't play WoW at all, and when I did last time the place was a ghost-town. But sin Cata is comming out in november, I'll get my char started, hopefuly some ppl will be back to startet-midlvl zones again and it will be fun.

Otherwise I'm all LOTRO VIP =))))

I was going to resub err rebuy sence I gave my account away. Then I took a look at cataclysm talent treens and found out it only 41 talent points and less unique way to build your character. They lock you to one tree for 31 points and then only 10 to spend elsewhere. Also as of right now for priest there not much in the talent trees to make your character unique. They need to add 2-3 talent every tier and I don't see it being possible.

Pretty sure I'm done with WoW, unless nothing coming out is any good at all, and even then, I'd probably just cycle through more f2p games and wait out the dry spell.  The community isn't going to get better, and the endgame badge grind isn't going anywhere, there will be no housing, you don't have to quest, but it's much quicker to level by questing, so you might as well have to, so with all those things, I just don't see why I should come back.

WOW is way to easy now a days. My friends don't play, my wife dosent play, hell.. my goldfish wont even swim next to my monitor when WOW is logged in. Ohhh  don't even get me started with this BS GS crap.. But, I feel I have an obligation to buy the X-pack and cap my toon out..  I can't really explain it...

Thanks for freeing up bandwith to the servers.  Its still amazes me whenever I play other MMO's and then come back to WoW, how much more WoW offers and gives their fans than any other game out there.  Its shocking when you compare the care given to the game.  I feel like all these other MMO's really should be charging around $5 if WoW charges only $15.  Have fun finding another game out there that comes close to stacking up to WoW.  But seriously, Cat is going to be awesome, I can't wait!  Oh yea and one more thing....you'll be back, hehe.  You know you will.  We all have our times to gripe.  And the one that people gripe the most to is the one they love.  =)

I'm stil on the fence about whether or not I'll get Cat. I've been playing this game on and off since launch and just feel like the game is pretty much done. Oh yay we get to grind out 5 level, then 5mans then the raid hamster wheel. It's not worth it anymore. I'm just having too much fun playing LOTRO to go back.

The x-pac is still a little ways off and I may change my mind but if it were to release today then no, I wouldn't be re-subbing.

There is just as much content in for max players as there was in wotlk

    http://www.mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/thread/291924/Cataclysm-mega-post-spoilers.html

    • x8 5man dungeons plus SFK and DM heroic

    • x4 Raids (though I guess not all at release)

    • x6 zones for level 80+

    • PvP zone (AKA wintergrasp 2.0)

    • x2 battle grounds

    • 5 new levels that blizzard say will take as long as 70-80 in wrath

plus then all the other stuff being added

    • Reforging

    • Arcaeology

    • Rated battle grounds

    • guild level's and perks

    • flying in azeroth

    • new class mechanics for hunters, locks & pallies

    • new skill caps and recipes for all professions

    • new/reworked talent tree's

And if you choose to reroll, all the above plus

    • 2 new races and their starting zones

    • new 1-60 zone revamp

I think there is enough here that every on new and old will love. Worth £20 for the box plus a few months sub of any ones money and if you get in raiding these months and months of fun to be had.

This expansion is all about alt-aholics.  80-85 takes as long as 70-80 did, and the zones are varied and fun.  There are just as many dungeons, heroics and raids available on day one as the other expansion.

But the ENTIRE questing/leveling from 1-60 has been changed.  Most zones have NO quests that were there in vanilla... and some of the zones are just so amazing and full of story/lore.   The goblin starter zones get all the news.. but 'boring' zones like silverpine and badlands are just amazing now with the questing.     if you enjoy questing and great storylines, you can basically take 4 different characters from 1-60 and never see the same quest twice.

Probably the least publicized part of the expansion is just how radically the zones have been improved from 1-60.  When I first heard about cata, I thought 'cool, there is lava in the barrens and a volcano in ashenvale....  I never realized that they were going to redo every quest and tie it into the cata storyline.

I'm going to wait to see how Catclysm plays out, then try the game again.

Not I.  The primary reason I left WoW was the massive oversimplification of game play, which Ghostcrawler is proudly continuing on with (not sure how much younger of an audience he's aiming for at this rate...perhaps toddlers?) in this expansion.  I have little doubt that it will be shiny...and I have equally little doubt that my wife's mage could still put out 80% of optimal dps with only 2 keys (not macro'd)...perhaps Cataclysm will bring it down to one key.

I will, however, be patient and keep an open mind about their next MMO.  Although Blizzard has lost a lot of their core talent, many that remained that made WoW vanilla and WoW BC moved to their next project prior to Ghostcrawler taking over.  That will be the MMO I will be watching for.

I plan to resub one week before the release of Cataclysm. I have an Authenticator on the way, a Celestial Steed to help with mount issues for my new character, and a name reserved for her.

~Miles "Tails" Prower out! Catch me if you can!

I'm not resubbing.   Until Wow makes some radical changes to their endgame, I won't return no matter what new stuff they come up with.

  • majimaji Member UncommonPosts: 2,091

I'll check it out with the new zones, races and talenttrees and try the new 5man dungeons.

Then, I'll either do the raid thing again or quit, depending on my impression.

Let's play Fallen Earth (blind, 300 episodes)

Let's play Guild Wars 2 (blind, 45 episodes)

Nope, I won't buy CATA. As long as Blizzard don't recognise where they have gone wrong I won't buy any more WoW expansions. I'm looking forward to these new games like TERA and RIFT, maybe GW2 and FFXIV too but not SW:TOR.

  • NizurNizur Member CommonPosts: 1,417

I'm not going to resub next month. Instead I'll wait and see what the reviews are like. If it's more of the same, then I'm going to skip it completely. If it actually brings something new to the table, I'll probably pick it up again to check it out.

EDIT: And by "new" I don't mean new races and revamped lands. I mean something new to the genre, not just the same tired formula with a new toon.

    Current: None
Played: WoW, CoX, SWG, LotRO, EVE, AoC, VG, CO, Ryzom, DF, WAR
Tried: Lineage2, Dofus, EQ2, CoS, FE, UO, Wurm, Wakfu
Future: The Repopulation, ArcheAge, Black Desert, EQN

Cool, I was a little bored so decided to download the PTR client... to my suprise I can log in even though I have not been subbed for 8 months.  Even better the new streaming tech means It only needed to download ~300mb and I can start playing.. EPIC!.. checking out the new water effects and trying to get SW to play the events ATM.

Feels good to be back... responsive movement, smooth gameplay.. why cannot other devs get that right?

Lot's of my buddies keeping asking me the same question. I've kept telling the same thing since I quit for good over a year ago. After playing a game for 5 years you just straight up get bored of it, after playing original plus 2 expansions you start to realize its pretty much the same thing just different presentation.

Don't get me wrong, I still to this day consider this the best mmo out there (bang for your buck). But like my counterstrike career before WoW I think once you're bored of a game you're bored of it.
