The game had to shut down. The hackers, the financial sheets, the systems that were flawed like matching, all screamed for a shut down.

But the game has a chance.  It should be relatively cheap to buy now that most of the heavy lifting is done..  It has shown that it bascially works, and can attract (but must keep) a player base.

So a game company picks it up, tweaks or removes or improves some mechanics, deveolpes a way to prevent or catch hackers (and deal with them harshly. Many people who hacked would not if a real fear of banning existed) and repackages and re launches it.

Perhaps as a F2P with an option to P2P VIP subscription.  One never knows.

I'm going with SOE, adding it as a value added game to their monthly all access pass.   With the company failing to find a buyer, the U.K. courts will sell it off super cheap to help pay creditors.

Fear not fanbois, we are not trolls, let's take off your tin foil hat and learn what VAPORWARE is:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vaporware

"Vaporware is a term used to describe a software or hardware product that is announced by a developer well in advance of release, but which then fails to emerge after having well exceeded the period of development time that was initially claimed or would normally be expected for the development cycle of a similar product."

Shoot, I'd buy it in a heartbeat. You have all kinds of assets, probably the best customization system ever designed to date to make more from, the unreal 3 engine underneath.... Scrap all RTW's gameplay code, and what a fun playground to make a fresh start from.

Honestly this game SCREAMS free to play (with Microtransactions) to me.. And knowing that RTW spent 100 million developeing the game (and only made around 8-13million back) their only hope would be to sale it to some company for some quick $$.. That company will prolly be some korean f2p MMO developer..

Really the best thing for APB now would to be for it to get out of the clutches of Real Time Worlds.. They don't have the rescources to combat the hackers and add the much needed content/tweaks.. This game could be a real money maker if another developer jus took a year or two to develope APB more and add the content/tweaks needed then made it free 2 play with microtransactions.. If Hellgate: London can find a buyer then im sure APB will too.
