New LotrO Europe update! (f2p further delay)

Satine posted:

"Hi folks,

Following our announcement on Wednesday regarding the delay of Free-to-Play in Europe, we can now provide you with a further update as to its status. It’s not good news I’m afraid. We are currently anticipating a delay of more than a week, potentially launching around the end of the month, and are still not in a position where we are able to confirm an exact date.

As you know, we were tracking a launch date of 10th September and up until recently thought this was still achievable; however, due to some major obstacles this date is simply not possible. Many of you have asked for a detailed explanation as to why this has come to be and why there wasn’t very much notice of the delay. Regarding the implementation challenges we talked about, the good news is that our Store and new servers are just about ready to roll, barring some final, live stress testing that needs to be performed.

We understand this is disappointing for you, more so because of our lack of communication in the earlier part of the week coupled with the last minute bad news. As the situation was changing literally from hour to hour, we weren’t in a position to tell you anything with any stability to it.

As we work to bring Free-to-Play to launch here, all eligible players will still continue to accrue loyalty rewards as per the rewards table on the website. We’re also laying on a bunch of your favourite live events on all servers starting next week and we’re introducing a community competition to allow you to take out your frustration on us and win some great prizes in doing so. We know this won’t substitute for the new Store and Enedwaith, but maybe it will make things a little more fun for you as you wait. Look out for announcements on all of these things within the next few days.

As always, thanks for your support and patience and a particular thank you to all of you who took the time to send us personal messages, those were awesome and really appreciated!"

It also seems like they activated Welcome back week so all old players can play for free. New players can still get the 14-day free trial.

Then LotrO = Pink Floyd

lol...looks like the US server are getting really full now, since only very few are going to wait untill that incompetent bunch is getting things done

Now thats an idea. Everyone talks about CMs, but what does this mean for Turbine? They planned their capacities for the NA market, not the NA + European market combined ... Even if you discount the crowd playing localised versions that could still be a very significant bunch of people.

Is there any way to transfer account from Code Masters (EU) to Turbine (US)?

Because in the past, I bought LotRO and Mines of Moria (both EU version), and I was looking forward to start new character, but since I would be considered premium player in EU (with some extra contet, that you got from lotro+mm), and just regular free player in US, I would like to know, if there is any way to carry over my account details (just info that I bought lotro+mm, I don't care about my old characters and stuff on them)?

this is an incredible marketing stunt imho....Codemasters was not exactly know for delivering the same quality the Turbine did and know this....looks like its time for Turbine to get the European part of the game back under their roof and out of Codemasters hands really, since most European player will now use the US servers instead and once they have invested time and money in the US version, they hardly will come back

I will just start fresh on US servers. US servers always got better population anyways.

I can only speak about what I know I'd pursuaded a number of friends to try the game sadly they are now all downloading the North American client rather than the EU one . I think untimatly a delay of a week or two wont make a difference but beyond that point the chances of the european f2play version being a success will diminish day by day .The quest remains if Turbine could do it why could'nt Codemasters .

Sadly I dont think you'll be alone . I 've a nasty feeling Turbine wanted the free to play but Codemasters did'nt and were caught up in it . This is there way of shifting what they see as millstone around there neck .I would'nt be suprised in a month or so when theres been several annoucements of the free to play in Europe that a deal has been struck with Turbine to take it over .

Its not much fun for those people who dont alreadty have lotro accounts.

And they say they were tracking problems and hoping for a launch "hour by hour".. and yet the delay is over a week!... lies lies and more lies.

Well I really hope that once it's up and running, the EU population will be strong.
