I have read through most of the posts here on this game. I have been playing the beta. Fan or no, answer this honestly. In its current state, would you feel good about recommending this to a friend as a purchase for pre-release or to buy on launch day?
I know I would not feel good about that. Especially if my friend was a novice to MMOs or computer gaming at all.
I am not saying it won't be a GREAT game but lets face it. Only a few weeks from launch and to me, it is in no better state than Vanguard or AOC at the time of launch for those games.
I was in the beta for both and even though there were serious issues pre-launch or in open beta at least you could easily download the fricken client and the mouse worked correctly.
Yeah, yeah, there are those select few who have had a blessed miracle cast upon them and the launcher works fine and the mouse works fine and there was no learning curve either.
As an FF fan or serious MMO vet you might "muscle" through it and wait it out till after release patches that will inevitably fix the issues but as it stands right now I cannot think of telling someone, go buy this game now, can you?
I am not trolling either. it is fair question as I see many versions of posters explaining how to do something or why it is OK that things are not working. Then I see others so frustrated it hurts. The "Its beta" argument goes out the window when some very basic functions are not working well and the UI/ gameplay is so very hard to get for even some vet MMO players.
Bottom line is if you answer with a no, which I assume most would, and you want this game to succeed, you need to stop making excuses for SE and let them know with the same passion you defend the game with, what it is they need to fix.
