A new adventure! My first stumbling steps upon the shore...

So, while i've been patiently waiting for my shiny new space shoot-em-up to come out,  i've been searching for a new MMO to pass the time.   Something to keep me busy, and hopefully be better than the last handfull of Asian grindfests and poorly disguised clones i've suffered through.

Then, I heard about this game, and its recent switch to the f2p model, and I was curious.   Well.. honestly, i've known about this game for quite a few years,  but have never really had the 'oomph' to sniff around and see what it was about.  All I knew was that it's been around for quite a while,  it has a massive playerbase,  and the screenshots were quite impressive.

So, off we go!

The installation was fairly quick and painless,  and I noticed a clever little trick they used that allowed me to actually play the game before it was completley done downloading!   Very nice.

The character creation was simple, with a handfull of options that really didn't seem 'that' limited,  even though I know a good portion of the came has been culled for players such as myself.

Before I knew it,  I was standing on the sandy beach in my rusted armor,  gazing around at the other dozens of half naked people around me,  and of course, the first NPC who greets you,  in his own way.  Think this was the point where I suddenly discovered what I 'really' look for in an MMO.   The little things.

The voice acting was rather top-par,  his animations were smooth,  and his head actually followed me around as I move!

This may not seem like much,  and again, it was just a very very minor detail,  but.... goddamn.   His head followed me around,  as if he were actually noticing me!    I suppose its a very simple trick they use with all of thier NPCs,  but its effect on the overall game is rather impressive,  to me, at least.

The combat is smooth, the sound and musical scores are top notch,  and... well,  I could go on and on,  but i'll try to keep this short, and to the point.

My first 10 levels have been amazing,  f2p handicap be damned.

If the game can keep this up for 10 levels more...   I think I just may have to drop a little cash into the deal,  and see what i'm missing out on.

When I quit the game I had 3 toons with raid gear 1mythed and 2 epic and ALOT of minions over 2 accounts. On the server I played there wasnt to many toons under lvl 80, so for me the fun started there. Im guessing theres alot of "young" toons running around on on the f2p server so that should be alot of fun.  Might roll a toon myself on there sometime just for laughs.
