Release date put back to spring 2011 due to...

So the release date has been pushed back to Spring 2011, is this because Bioware are struggling to put a end game into their mmo?  From what i've read on numerous sites it seems that Bioware have way too many questions still unanswered and they don't seem to be very forthcoming with answers, or is that because they really don't have the answers.  Bioware games have traditionally been all about the story telling, that's fine but in a mmo you need more then just a story.  Afterall once you hit the max cap that is when a mmo comes to life, or supposed to, a story will only get you soo far before that story ends, which in my opinion should be where raiding starts off.

I still plan on buying it, but soo far they don't seem to have any idea on how to implement a end game structure ie. raiding, instancing etc.  They seem to be forgetting that to do raiding you need healers, of which none of the classes are healers although i suppose they could make a specialisation tree for a couple of classes so you can choose what you want to be.

There's also the issue of pvp which they don't seem to have done much with yet.

With the game already in a beta you would think that they would have answers for all these questions people have, but instead we're just left with more questions than answers.   Personally i am getting a little bit concerned with how this game will end up, i just hope it doesn't end up like Star Trek and ships broken and then never recovers..

No offense, but it has been spring 2011 for a long time. In fact, I don't think they have announced anything different.

That is the only site I have heard about October 2010. Not from Bioware/EA or Lucas Arts.

So I doubt they announced October 2010. I think the first announcement was that which I linked to you.

Site you use seems more like a blog. With very unprofessinal writing and pretty dubious claims.

fair one, but it wasn't so much the release date that i am having a problem with, it's the lack of alot of unanswered questions from Bioware ie. raiding, pvp, healing classes etc.   As i say, they seem to be unwilling to give straight answers to simple questions about how pvp works, or how end game will work that is concerning me most.   All we get is reassurances that these things are in the game, but as it is in testing phase at the moment, i would have expected to see more information regarding these things rather then being drip fed information.

Wouldn't be surprised if the date moves back further from Spring 2011, even.

I think Bioware's best bet is to remain tight-lipped on information and stun the hell out of ppl when the game comes out.

I'd expect them to include all options you'd expect an mmo to cover from pvp, healers etc etc. and for anyone who likes Star Wars will (i'm confident) enjoy the game a lot, even if at it's core it does not change too many things in an MMO, it'll still be a solid game in total because of the quality Bioware apply to their games, because of the great stories and because it's Star Wars.

It's true that Bioware never announced any intended release date prior to the Spring 2011 one. If they actually did have an internal date they were going for and if they really pushed that back about a year, I'd say spaceships and space combat is a far more likely reason than endgame.

So you san waddle off and be concerned. They have not put the release date back as far as I can see it was a loose spring 2011. As far a PvP goes you have your battle zones you may not get a lot more but thats no loss.

With the size of the world and the content that they appear to be creating they hopefully will avoid the end game garbage. Always a challenge but end game = bad design..... If they can ensure some longevity in game here then they have cracked it.

People do not like the Bioware approach which is we will release info when its in for certain. I guess you would prefer them to lie so you can conviniently have a good moan.

Some of us are going to enjoy the game they deliver , Not worry about the imaginary one they aren't. Be carefull about that ulcer.

Great interview at Comic Con where they talk about the Mural in the office and the thousands of armor types, also a real feel of scale about the work they are delivering. Very impressive circa 50 minutes of footage interviewing key bioware writers.

They already have classes capable of healing. During the G4TV session they showed a class healing. I believe it was the Jedi Consular, but not 100%. But they mentioned having full group dynamics, and if for some reason your group could not FIND a healer, or a certain class you can use companions to step in.

it was always spring 2011 and as far as leaveing alot of answers left unoticed or unanswered that is what bioware dose they will not give you every detail about the game untill its about 3 months away because they do not want ppl copying them or etc they love keeping things a mistery.

In one of the videos they said something like the smuggler has small amounts of healing capabliity . It shows him healing the jedi knight. It was the group play video they released.

Yeah, as far as I knew the release target was for spring 2011.

The only date ever announced was for spring 2011, so I don't know where your getting your info from. And it's not even a date, it's just a time frame.

Hey OP, maybe you should start watching video and reading up on the game, because a lot of your question are already answer.

Bioware doesnt talk a lot, but I like that. Its the companies that run their mouths that teeter on the brink of unprofessional behavior. When Bioware puts out a product they stand by it... so far. Besides I enjoy the story arcs Bioware delivers, it seems mmos cant really grasp the idea of good story telling so this could be a welcome change in my opinion. On top of that Bioware has never personally left me feeling unhappy with any product theyve created.

I hope that the games homepage and forums are among the sites you visited for information?

I don't really think there is a comparison.   SWTOR gives me more enjoyment in its current state than STO does now heh heh.

Ok, so after spending some time looking around the SWTOR forums the answers i was looking i have actually found.  Still not overly impressed with how some things are fuzzy around the edges but i have the answers to all my questions in my original post.

Therefore if a moderator wants to lock this thread then please do as i made a mistake and didn't do enough research before posting here.

    To OP:

Look at more than one site for release date info. More specifically see what the developers of the game say about the release date. I have a friend just like you...extremely gullible with the first thing you read and that's it. Look at more than one source before making a thread like this. Makes you look silly.

Old news but I wouldn't rule out the thought that this will be pushed back until summer fo 2011. With 14 planets that is alot of content to push out including pvp and alot of other stuff.

I think they realized ppl wont pay to play single player mmo so they have to add alot more stuff like open pvp, space combat, etc.
