Perpetuum Online = EVE Online?

Perpetuum, a game I only recently heard about is a game that is a sandbox set on a planet in the future inhabited by different types of robots.  You play as a human who controls a robot, except your actual avatar is the robot itself and not the actual human you create, kind of like how in EVE Online the avatar is the spaceship but you have a created character portrait.  Actually, its not even kind of like that, it's exactly that.  This is where the similarities start.

In-game, the only part of the avatar you can see is a facial portrait in EVE style with different lightings and such.  They claim to be unique in that there is also only one server on which all the action takes place, boasting one of the largest potential playing communities.  The guilds in-game are called corporations, the economy is based around the same mining principles as that of EVE-Online with resources that respawn in a similar manner.  There are special mining robots, and you can organize skills so that you can specialize in trading, mining, combat, etc.  There is also territory control in the game.  The menu screens from the game's images look exactly the same (as shown in the link below).  Even after all these similarities, another one exists in the time-based leveling system which is identical to EVE's, which gains experience points even while offline.

Does anyone know anything about this game?  Is it really as similar to EVE as the features list makes it seem?  And even better, is it potentially EVE with more exciting combat?

afaik it has the same combat as far as turning modules on and off, the only difference is that i believe movement is wasd and not double click to move. From what i've seen/read, yes it looks alot like EVE on the ground. About time someone copied (not necessarily bad) a skill based game.

It is very similar to EvE, Extensions points are gained 1 per minute, you can only use gear when you have relevant skill/extension level trained (extensions go to level 10 here)

You can launch an Alpha Strike, distance and fall off are here, so Yes its VERY similar to EvE, but as poster above noted, its about time someone brought out another skill absed game like EvE.

The comparisons will be drawn to EvE as every game is drawing comparisons to WoW, EvE pretty much redefined the skill based Genre.

looks like some kind of flight sim/mechwarrior hybrid..  nothing like Eve at all, about all they have in common is that their 'scifi' games..  probably make a great single player console game..

I am in the beta and it will be exactly like Eve Online except you pilot a robot on the ground instead of a spaceship. However, you can move the robot anywhere you want in the lands, until selecting a place then flying straight to it like Eve.
