Prarie Chicken Mount WTF!

MahloMahlo Member UncommonPosts: 814

It seems like every development in Fallen Earth nowadays is bad news. Now we have a giant chicken mount. Another reason not to resub. I thought it was a joke initially. Sadly, not.

If it's a CS item, then you can complain.... because that is just what people do about anything CS-related.

    If not, /face_palm

Prarie Chickens were one of the funniest things about the game, almost iconic, and this is just advanced nitpicking if that's the case.

Well, some people need a chicken mount. Ya know, so they can cross the road or run away! Lmao! :)

If we fail to change the things of today, they will become the lucid nighmares of tommorrow.

Bollocks! I don't want to play a post-apocalyptic MMO with people running around on oversized chickens. Totally ruins the atmosphere.

Lol, then you should complain that people drive ATVs and cars long after fossil fuels have gone extinct, let alone the resources to refine them should they even be availble. Selective nitpicking...

It's about the atmosphere of the game, not accuracy. I suggest they change the music to something more appropriate too, then. Benny hill would be about right.

I can't argue against that, but both prairie chickens and the benny hill theme are the shit in my book.

They would also both work well together in FE, because you'd have to be blind to not see the latent comedy in the game. All post-apoc has a funny side like that, ask Fallout.

So the entire game is ruined because you don't like a feature you can opt out of using?

    Such a gamebreaker isn't it!

I dont think Op was mad because there is a chicken mount in game that he can or cannot buy. I think he is mad because he has to see a chicken mount regardless if he wants to or not.

Ahhh well now that just makes him sound even more petty. Can't even take it that other people have chicken mounts, something  he doesn't want. Oh well, it's his game after  all anyway. Remove the mounts!

It has to have latent humour, or it would be horrifying for most people. Take the edge off, you know.

Of course, I think giant mutated animals being domesticated makes a great deal more logical sense than the persistence of petrol-powered vehicles.

    WTF? No subscription fee?

I dont see how a huge prarie chicken wouldn't be post apocalyptic. I'd think there would be alot of deformations and such with the mutations in fallen earth. Or does this prarie chicken look more like a rubber duckey? Screenshots?

No, the entire atmosphere would be ruined by players running around on oversized chickens. It's idiotic. Not to mention the fact that it seems rather too close to mounts in fantasy MMOs FE was supposed to be different from. I can only think they're trrying to appeal to players of those games as their subs decrease further. Can't see any other reason they'd want to introduce such a ridiculous feature.

It looks like a Tonberry from Final Fantasy.

Maybe the chickens lay eggs,so they are not just mounts?:) Perhaps they will fight your enemies too, you know peck them to death. That would make them peckers, right? Lmao!

That is my point really. I didn't say this in itself was a gamebreaker, though of course that was easier for posters to argue against. This is the latest of numerous bad decisions.

Exactly. There's a comedic or dark humor description to almost every item in game. There's a line of weapons called 'Sports gear' or something.  The slots and blackjack machines are always making humorous comments.

I thought the blight wolf mounts were ridiculous but I quickly got over it. You will, too.

There isn't a "right" or "wrong" way to play, if you want to use a screwdriver to put nails into wood, have at it, simply don't complain when the guy next to you with the hammer is doing it much better and easier. - Allein

There's humourous, then there's silly. Players riding comedy mounts is silly. And there's nothing 'latent' about it.

Maybe they want the same result Blizzard had with their mount?!

I see this backfire. With decisions like this I can only say.. bring fallout online.

    Peace.

And we're not allowed to have silly? The prarie chicken mount is available to people who buy from Gamestop, I'm pretty sure it'll make its way to the cash shop eventually. If people want prairie chicken mounts (and there were many that asked for them), it's up to the devs whether they provide them or not.

I'm not bothered by it, always felt the FE world was quirky as heck, and it amuses me to think of people trying to ride those all-head-and-legs chickens. Wonder what the animation is like? (Due to responses earlier in the thread I now have a mental image of a prairie chicken that runs staccato with the Benny Hill music looping over it, thank you all for that).

I see nothing wrong with a bit of blatant silliness, fits in with the tooltip comments and the tips of the day. I never thought we were supposed to take it all so seriously. One of the reasons I love FE is because it doesn't take itself too seriously. If it was all "teh apocalypse is srs bsness, you cannot has teh funnehs" I'd have lost interest long ago, the quirkiness is what keeps me playing.

    Obviously YMM(and does)V.

Good thing Icarus Studios has Mahlo to remind them the fundamental rule about post apocalyptic games: no humor, ever.

Clearly instead of a chicken mount they should have had a mount that gives you cancer and makes you die slowly. Oh and those other jokes have to go. And the casino, gambling makes people happy and we all know there is no happy allowed in post-apoc games.

Just posted a pic of the mount as seen ingame on the FE forums. Thought I'd post it here too
