Cost vs Fun

I loved Perfect World.  I took several characters to high levels.  The graphics are beautiful.  The game play is very smooth.  Can't say that I ever had lag.  This a a social game and the best part of the game comes with factions.  The territorial wars were dynamite!!!  Lots of pet stuff.  It has a great navigation system.  The customer service is periodically lacking (non-existent!).  That said, I seldom needed it.   Again, there aren't many glitches.

Now...  this is a free game.  No monthly charge.  But...  the game is a drag unless you buy potions, etc.  You can do it without a cash outlay, but it is very tedious to do.  I had to lay out four time the monthly fee of WOW.  Except for that, I have enjoyed it more than any other game.

Grindfest with a heavy item-mall base, if you don't pay cash you are either poor like a rat or grind yourself to death. But good-looking, thats right.  The character's customization is pure awesomeness (if you have at least any semblance of phantasy).

O.o; No offence, but how is PWI a grindfest? ;o I only do daily quests and farm TT / FFC for money and more exp. I never grind. Never had to spend money on the game, I can earn millions of coins a day just by selling TT mats. I have a lvl97 Veno and saved up for Hercules legendary pet just by TTing (it costs around 200 dollars with real money). If you know how to play, you don't have to grind or spend real money.

    Tips:
    - Making money after lvl60: if you can't solo TT, farm with faction / friends / anyone you trust (strangers might steal your drops). Don't buy unnecessary stuff at low lvls (fancy mounts, wings, fashion).
    - Exp: first 30 lvls can be done by quests in 2-3 days (experienced players), after that you get your first daily quest (crazy stone for a sh!tload of exp), 40-60 goshiki quest chain (40-45 instant lvls in an hour), 40+ bounty hunt, 60-80 public quest (unlimited between 9am and 11pm server time, 1-2 lvls/day), 70+ world quest, marriage quest (optional), OHT dailies, FCC runs, and so on... An experienced player can get to lvl80 in a month (without exp increasers), and after that, you still have the dailies / FCC for good exp.

You only say PWI is a grindfest because you prolly don't know about dailies and the lvling possibilities. You think you have to spend real money on PWI because you're low lvl and / or cannot farm TT. /thread.

I found the dailies to be a tad boring.  PWI has not done a whole lot for higher level characters.

Well, this depends on the player. I love dailies and they keep me entertained. Dailies, TT and FCC are the reasons why I still play. xD Yeah, I'm not 100+ yet, but at lvl97, I still find fun things to do every day.

You can prolly solo all your bhs and TT as a veno.  Btw how much time do you spend daily on the game to make your millions in TT? Farm 25/8?

To do bhs and TT run you need to find a party, not everyone has a large guild which can help with bhs, actually often guild lacks characters of the same level to do bh together, and higher level playes are sick of helping with it.

Pick-up party is not a way out, you can't trust random people who can just ditch you only because your character is a wizard, or psy, or assassin or archer or whatever, because they think you are "useless".

I've met many players who left parties whenever they wanted or as soon as they completed their goal without paying attetion to the rest party needs. Or I rememer my fb 51 when a cleric just went offline in the middle of the dungeon, we could not find another one and the whole thing was completely screwed, 3 bosses were done, but another 2 were impossible to complete. Wine wasted, time wasted, nerves wasted too. Thats how a random party works.

The worst thing in this game is that you can do NOTHING solo unless you are a venomancer, you are always very dependant on other people, thats make players who like to be independanttotally screwed.

Who said you have to wine FB51? o_o; lol. And just because you have some bad experiences, that doesn't mean every players suck. I also get into random squads for BHs and I also met idiots, even lvl90+ ones. BUT I found very good friends, too. This is how it works in every MMOs.

I know PWI is not soloable... but why would anyone want to solo a Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game? It's meant to be played with other people. No offence, but if you want to be independent, play an offline video game. Or Guild Wars. :D It's soloable.

It's not that hard to find a helpful faction on PWI, many of them recruit new members all the time. You just have to be kind and talk to others, that's all. But this is something you *should* do in an MMO anyways. I love MMOs because I get to work with others to reach a goal.

I can solo TT, yes... but it takes forever plus it's boring as hell. That's why I often go with friends and I still get enough coins for my needs. BUT I must say, I never waste money on fancy rare mounts and unnecessary crap like that.

Sorry it was FB59, my mistake.

I play a very good MMO Atlantica where all quests/many dungeons (like90% of pve) are soloable. That does not mean that people seldom make parties or communicate. The game forces to be social in another way than PW. PW makes pve so hard that it is just imposible to solo, so find a party or quit.

Atlantica has an easy pve (even on the highest lvls) but it awards for having a large friend list or being in a guild/alliance, or just for staying in party.  It does not penalize for a completely solo palying style like PW, but it gives awesome bonuses if you communicate with people. So people always have a choice to communicate with others or to play at their own pace. And most people do choose to form a party and pve together. But players who don't like to be dependent on others can enjoy their game to full extent.

If PW had this feature, the game would be priceless.

Yes, because Atlantica has a "henchmen" system like Guild Wars. xD Of course it's soloable. I'm not too fond of turn based MMOs, though. PWI's PVE is soloable too except for the instances (dungeons) and some bosses for cultivation... but as I said, they are meant to be played in a party, like in 99% of the MMOs. I get bored of solo play really fast. x.x And PWI would lose half of their playerbase if it was boring solo all the time.
