LF game with a true pet class ala UO/SWG

TsiyaTsiya Member UncommonPosts: 280

I've always played pet classes, even invented the ranged pet class in AC2, spear feral. Burned out on WoW, have hunters and warlocks coming out my ears. Played UO on live and free servers, SWG pre and post-CU, DAoC, SMT:I and even Allods just for giggles. Doesn't have to be F2P, not demanding a sandbox although that's what I prefer, just want a real pet class. AoC was just sad. Some other game had some pets but you only got them for like an hour at a time and the control etc was horrible(I forget the name, was sci-fiish, possibly Requiem). I don't like space, crafting is also optional.

Any ideas?

Final Fantasy XI has quite the good pet classes, Summoner, you summon Avatars, you start with one and fight the others to get them. Beastmaster, control the animals and use them to fight with you. Puppetmaster (my favorite pet one) A very unique pet job, requires thinking but if you learn the job you can be one of the best Damage Dealing jobs.

My two suggestions would be FFXI as a summoner or Battle of the Immortals where every class gets a pet and every monster in the game can be made into a pet, even bosses.

Aion has a pet class that can summon 4 different types of pets  based on the elements, each having a different focus. (tanking, dps, pvp etc)
