Fallen Earth End Game Info?

RollieJoeRollieJoe Member UncommonPosts: 451

Hey all, I'm here to request some concise, objective info about the "end game" in Fallen Earth.  I'm not generally a sci-fi fan (tho I did like EVE), nor a fan of manual aiming (tho I played Darkfall for awhile), but since I've tried every current non-free to play MMO out there and haven't found something to get into, I figured I'd give this one a go.

So anyway what I'm looking for is some details on what you do PvE and PvP wise in Fallen Earth after reaching level cap.  For PvE, are there big bosses that drop loot better than anything else in the game that take huge groups to kill (aka standard style MMO raiding)?  I just threw that out there as an example, not necessarily what I'm looking for.  But what is there to do in PvE once you are level cap and have farmed all the faction/AP/whatever.  Also, is end-game PvE group or solo oriented?

For PvP, similar questions.  Once I'm level cap, etc. if I log on and want to PvP, what do I do (in general)?  And also, why do I do it (ie what is the goal/motivation)?

TLDR version: what is there to do in Fallen Earth, not counting crafting, once you have reached the level cap and grinded up all the faction/AP/whatever you want?

Thanks for reading, and thanks for info!

Download the trial, copy over to test server and level to 46 + 1m chips and hit the pvp. See if it's to your liking - and all for free.

Although I understand your point of view (I did play WoW after all), you're approaching this from a distorted point of view, in my opinion. In my opinion, it is equally important, if not more so, to enjoy your journey to the max level. Personally I'm still enjoying that journey, doing as much of everything as I can. I'm even doing the grey (no exp or reward quests), because I enjoy the story more than the carrot associated with the quests. But I guess I'm just weird like that.

Now answering your question to the best of my (non first hand) knowledge, the end game consists of

    • A limited number of team based PvE content, what you would call group instances

    • There is no raiding the way you know it from other games

    • Loads of crafting. You can actually learn all crafting recipes in the game, but it takes time and lots of resources.

    • PvP in designated contested areas in the world.

    • Capturing neutral towns via a combination of PvP & PvE and turn them towards your faction

The new patch coming on 7th May will also introduce something similar to battlegrounds for PvP. It also does some revamping in the way the world PvP works and raises the level cap to 50, by also adding PvE areas in the game.

Xasaphis - I appreciate the reply/info, I did some reading up myself as well but still a bit confused.

Maybe if I rephrase it this way (hypothetical):

    1) I'm max level, done all my grinding, and done all my crafting.  I log in for some PvP.  What are my options, and what are the rewards/incentives for each option?

    2) I'm max level, done all my grinding, and done all my crafting.  I log in for some PvE.  What are my options, and what are the rewards/incentives for each option?

Would greatly appreciate someone filling me in on these!

Somebody more knowledgeable could answer these. I'll only add at this point that the way the builder works at this point you can make:

    • A very specialised crafter with some average PvE strength and limited to none utility (in terms of buffs/healing etc).

    • A very specialised PvPer with excellent survivability, armor, mutations choices etc but no crafting capabilities.

    • A very specialised utility/support character with plenty of healing/buffing/crowd control capabilities (this can potentially be a crafter depending on stats & faction choices)

    • An all rounder character, strong crafter, decent PvEr, average PvPer, some support.

A good character builder (that will unfortunately need to be changed coming 1.4 patch) can be found in the following link

It's a tricky time to answer your question. On May 7th there is a bunch of new content being added to the game, so if we ignore current endgame and look to then here's what I can make out:

    1. You can go to timed conflict towns and work to win them over for your preferred faction (makes nodes in and around the town only harvestable by those of your faction, among other things), you can go to open-world PvP zones and look for some action, you can play Bloodsports (three different types of PvP match-up: deathmatch, survival and capture the flag). Rewards, Deathtoll points that can be used to buy gear etc. from Deathtoll Merchants (DT points are being made more like currency).

    2. Not a lot of info on this, Deadfall (the new area) just went on the PTS last night. There will be grouped content in there, but not "raids" as most know them (as far as I know, and I could be wrong). Rewards: Group missions normally have nice rewards, but be aware that they intend to stand by their "most of the best gear is crafted" mantra. Getting rep with the new NPC factions gives rewards too, Shiva's Favoured reward the Blight Wolf mount.

Oh and a caveat, if you mean "have done all my crafting" to be you've collected all recipes and made all improved books etc. - that takes a chunk of time once you hit endgame.

TL;DR, endgame is mostly PvP, that and/or maxing crafting skills and recipe collections.

    Hope that helps some.

Hopscotch - That did help some, thanks a bunch.  Maybe I'll have to wait a couple weeks for clarification (cause you said the patch was May 7th + some time for people to play it), but let me see if I understand at least the end-game PvP aspect.  The options/rewards are (or "will be"):

    1) open world PvP in the pvp zones - no rewards except possibly some DT Points

    2) minigame style PvP Blood sports - DT point rewards

    3) factional PvP over conflict towns - control of the town gives your faction access to additional resources, etc.

Is that roughly right?  Before I ask my next couple questions let me be clear that I'm only trying to find out if this game is right for me personally, not trying to bash (or promote) it to anyone else other than myself.  So, with that in mind, it sounds like for me there wouldn't be very much to do in the game after a couple/a few months.  I don't like crafting at all (though I'll do the absolute least amount possible to get the gear I need for PvP), and it sounds like once you get all the DT points you need to buy any of that gear you want, the open world PvP and Blood sport minigames will have no incentives, while the conflict town PvP seems more geared towards crafters/harvesters without much incentive for a PvP-er to help keep or take control.

Having said all that, am I missing something, or perhaps misunderstanding something?  Are there any current/planned long-term  PvP goals?  Its difficult to explain exactly what I mean, but as examples from two of the most well known fantasy and sci-fi MMO's: In WoW they have the arena system which, for those who like it, acts as a constant PvP goal that can't be "grinded" (in contrast to battlegrounds, which once you grinded the honor there is no longer any incentive to do them).  And in EVE, aside from looting which means all PvP has potential gain, they have a very deep Guild/Corporation system where guilds and alliances fight for control over territory.  Does Fallen Earth have anything similar to either of these?

    Thanks!

It has more to do with EVE control of territory than WoW. So far we don't know what the DT points will translate into. We do know that with such an elaborate crafting system, they will not want to make it obsolete by giving gear in a WoW arena type fashion.

There is a free trial for the game you can subscribe to. It's limited to level 10 maximum and can last for up to 10 days. THe changes that the new patch will bring hardly affects the 1-10 bracket (besides some visual improvements in the melee animation etc.) So you can just download the game and check it for yourself. The feeling of old time MMO is prominent and besides, if you don't like the early game, you probably won't like the rest of it.

Keep in mind that if you do decide to subscribe (there is currently an offer for 25$ for the game and the first month), the trial days are added to your first subscription. That makes them 40 days in total.

Also keep in mind that there are no respecs, so you need to be extra careful with your AP (advancement points). Both the people ingame and on the official forums are very helpful with builds. Also the community in general is very mature and very helpful.

Thanks Xasapis, I appreciate your continued feedback.  I was actually playing the trial just now, also looking for some info in-game, but the help channel is so busy I didn't want to post big blocks of text asking there.  Unfortunately the 10 days / level 10 won't be able to tell me anything about my main concern, which is whether or not Fallen Earth has any long-term PvP goals.  I can play almost any decent MMO and enjoy it for a month or two, but I'm really looking for one that will be able to keep me around, and for that I personally need some solo, or even better guild, PvP goals to work towards long-term (ie can't be just grinded).  Atm doesn't seem like FE has these in game or planned for the near future, but I'll ask around a bit more before closing the book on what looks like a game I'd otherwise enjoy.
