liked this game a lot... honestly!

the game was awesome to start, great fights, great skill sets, graphics.. everything.  i understand it had issues before, but i wish the game didnt tank

You really should.

And there are definitely times when the chat is somewhat lively and the servers register as medium. So there are people playing.

but wait until they merge the servers so you can at least have the benefit of a more robust population.

I hadn't heard yet that it was even a "for sure" move or just one in consideration, but I'm probably not as up to date as everyone.

We are still working out the details on this. We are finalizing the process and running it through QA while working on the marketing side so we can get the word out to people and a good bit of forewarning. Hopefully we can get the official word out soon. Sorry for the lack of updates but it really has just been constant QA of the process so we can have as few bugs as possible once this occurs. This combined with getting the other content releases out the door has made things rather hectic around here. -Silius

My problem is that I started in the FFA PVP server (which pretty much always had lower population) and built every toon into a twink so transferring to the PVE server would be really sad. For example, I went through the spells for each of the best PVP classes and capped my level at whichever would be the most powerful (like level 16 for bard, 8 for cleric, 24? for dread knight, 32 for ranger, 42? for druid? 50 for bear shaman). This was cool because I would start out on the level 8 killing higher levels until they called their even higher level friends . ... then would jump on the level 16 and kill them until they called their even higher level friends . .. then get the 24 etc. etc. LOL it was a total win because all of my toons would be gaining infamy and coin without risk of losing anything to people in level range (but I had to be really careful of accidentally killing mobs because even 1 level increase would be really bad). My level 50 was always outnumbered and so I usually would log onto the 42 (41?) to deal with them without risk. They were all decked out to the very max possible (all yellow and orange gear crafted, even on the level 8) . .. another reason that I would hate to level.

 

There was this girl I used to PK with everyday for a year and she secretly rolled a level 8 twink with me (she led an anti-PK guild so it was a secret that we were friends) and anyways we had loads of fun!! I remember one time we were chasing this level 16 guy (so he was taking forever to kill) and he led us down into this dungeon where a huge train on mobs were on me . .. there was like 16 of the little brownies or whatever they were hahah so I started yelling in vent "OMG get these damn brownies off of me!!" So she came over and did like 2 aoes and they all died instantly and suddenly 'ding!'  "NOOOOOOOOOoooooooo!!!!!!!" LOL I was almost in tears from leveling to 9 that day and was very despressed for a couple days (and she wouldnt stop laughing . .. hahaha its funny as hell to look back on now though. Good times!) but it turned out not being so bad (just meant I couldnt take infamy/coin from 7s anymore) but I had to recraft all my armor and jewelry and crap so that it all capped at level 9 instead.

 

Anyways . .. to end my story I have a question:

Is infamy shown on the PVE servers? Is there a way to duel people or any PVP at all? I would like to resub for just another month but do not want to be alone. I would probably get my GF to sub too if I did, but not sure if I can get her off of Darkfall for a single day. If we did, wed prolly do it for the merge and then my twinks could just get her through to 50 to experience Vanguard one last time . ...

 

I remember right before I quit, there was a buff that capped your XP so that you didnt have to level if you didnt want to. Is that buff on the PVE server as well? I am assuming it is . ... but cant think of why PVE folks would not want to level.

I can't seem to find any listing for infamy so perhaps not? Looked on the character sheet but didnt' see any.

The buff is on the pve servers.

As far as pvp, last weekend a guy asked in chat and several people said "yes". However, other than dueling I'm not clear as to how pvp would be handeld on the pve servers.

For instance I'm not sure if one can just flag themselves and keep it flagged. From what I've seen most people dont' pvp as I think I've only seen one duel in the entirety of my time in game.

I just started the 14-days trial myself and liking it so far. The world is SOOOO BEAUTIFUL, especially the sky! Long time ago, I used to lag like crazy on Balanced setting, now it's pretty smooth for me on High Quality setting, yay!!!

So are the quests still very group based?

From the quests i've been doing I would say it's mixed.

I've been able to do a few group quests solo but I've also encountered some strict group quests. I suppose that is what I like about this game. If a set of mobs require a group they REALLY require a group. I can't tell you how many times I found myself running across the landscape with enemies in tow.

And they don't give up easily!

Thanks, Sovrath, for filling me in about the quests! Due to the population issue, I just had to ask first. I'm glad they have a mix. Vanguard is really full of stuff to do! So much potential, a hidden gem!
