After years of wondering where that adult virtual world was (and knowing it's creation was inevitable) I ahve simply forged ahead, despite calls of beign vaporware or a scammer. i am simply oen person focused on making a game liek that a reality. Soon I will be opening development up to donations, volunteering, and public scrutiny again, but simply setting oon an exact implementation given the time and financial budget remaining, has been difficult.

No matter what technology you choose as an independent developer, you have to sacrifice something. MMORPG engines are not inexpensive, at least not compared to an individual salary.

In any event, please support this project simply by commenting on the blog. A full fledged website is coming (and we previously had a social network where the project was designed from input of many people).

Ok, for anyone to take you seriously, you have to do two things.

    1. Remove ALL copyrighted pictures from your website. ALL OF THEM. Use only pictures you created, or that you paid for, and they must have a consistent look. You know, like all the characters in WoW, or all the characters in Free Realms, how they all look like they were actually made by an art team, with a design?

Not just cool pictures you like, and found on the interent. Why would anyone invest in your game, which would be all about selling your copyrighted material, if you don't respect other people's copyrights?

    2. A mock up of the game. NOT ideas, and lore, and all the cool game "features" you'd like to put in the game.

A world, that someone can log onto, and look around in, even if it's small. Any serious developer can do this in a couple of weekends using a stock engine like Big World Tech (costs only 300 dollars for the indie version), or others.

If you can't do this, or dont' have someone on your team that can do this, you're not really a developer, you're just a guy with an idea, and the game industry buys development, not ideas.

You don't need your website with tons of pictures of stolen art.

You need one small zone and two characters. Where someone can log in, as one of those characters, and say, ok, if this was developed, it would have potential, people would pay for it.

You need to be an artist that can make 3d graphics, or be able to make a mock up of the world, either with something like Big World, or Unity, something like that, or have those people working with you. Nothing else will work.

Dude, you have pictures of Half Life posted on your site:

Go look at other indie developer sites. They dont have pictures of published popular games on their site. ONLY their own artwork.

No, they ARE inexpensive. Big World Tech is proven capable of handling thousands of players. It costs 300 dollars.

Hero Engine is also a proven engine. It was used to produce The Old Republic. Kinda doubt that's going to release, and the server wont' work.

The Hero Engine costs 5K for the indie license, more expensive than 300 dollars, but people spend more than that buying a Jet Ski or a motorcycle.

    Unity has a FREE version:

Costs more to actually release a game, but nothing to do a mock up.

that site (http://underworld.wecometoplay.com) is simply a concept site, hence why it references many images of other products. it is not meant to be a site showcasing the game, simply a site to show people "what i was thinking" when i decided to go out to make a game.

If you look through the images, I suggest looking through the "commented" ones as you will see why I included images from other games (such as Half Life 2). I plan on doing a standard dev site in the near future.. but for right now I prefer to let folks think nothing serious is happening ( "rope a dope technique")

thank you for the comments though (not being sarcastic) and Imhotep was one of my role models from a young age (like 6).. so i like your Tag.

i will keep you posted when a "real" site for the project is made (not just the concept idea site you have seen). and everything else you said was spot on.

After many false starts and much research (and a few websites being closed down), my project is actively in production. It is a deep storyline adult mmorpg whose eventual aim is to be a mythology/fantasy virtual earth sim. The first release will be a multiplayer RPG/FPS with adult elements influenced by hentai and adult anime (also Metal Hurlant/Heavy Metal)

my project is deeper storywise but still adult mmorpg

    Way to Necropost!!!

No required quests! And if I decide I want to be an assassin-cartographer-dancer-pastry chef who lives only to stalk and kill interior decorators, then that's who I want to be, even if it takes me four years to max all the skills and everyone else thinks I'm freaking nuts. -Madimorga-

spend half your adult life making a game, you might necro post too.. staring at yourself down a long tunnel. in other news. OMFG i LOVE your sig... mind if i take an extra lap around the bend to make a character like that possible. The resulting game would be strangely addictive.

All credit is owed to Madimorga.... a kindred spirit of sorts.
