IF THE ONLY DEFENCE FOR CRITICISM OF A GAME IS CALLING SOMEONE A TROLL OR HATER, THAT SAYS A LOT ABOUT THE QUALITY OF THE GAME

The forums were the most fun by a long shot.

No contest on this one. THE FORUMS even the blues hang out their all day instead of the game.

The Content was insane the drama was incrediable and the death penalty their was the best in any game i have played. heck you could even adavance your forum avatar by the number of posts and you could customize your avatar as much as you liked.

I give the Main STO forums a solid 10 out of 10.

heck i would pay them 10 dollars a month just to be able to post their again. yeah it was that fun.

Forums if I have to choose. They were not much fun for me most of the time. I was usually there to find a fix to some issue the game had with my computer, or asking a dev to look at a ticket because they kept closing them on me with no response, or some other annoyance.

The rest of the time I'd usually leave their forums frustrated by the rabidly aggressive, yet unpunished fans of the game. Wading through snapping fanboys and CDF forum warriors patroling for any negativity to silence and dismiss was a drag really.

Wait ...wut... i thought dodging and squashing the CDF was the game. The CDF did need a nerf though every time they were losing they would call in the Devs to make sure they won poor sportsmenship on their part.

Speaking of the CDF, I'm always amused when they make claims of reality to fit their own preconcieved notions that STO is the best thing ever and the population of STO is constantly going up and the devs can never do any wrong.

My favourite example is from this thread: http://forums.startrekonline.com/showthread.php?t=149826 where the charter member of the CDF and most rabid fanboy I've ever seen insisted over and over and over again that the Captain's Database only tracked ACTIVE accounts (http://forums.startrekonline.com/showpost.php?p=2546767&postcount=104)  based on this post: http://forums.startrekonline.com/showpost.php?p=2548065&postcount=116 when later on it turned out the guy screwed up and the database actually tracks active as well as inactive accounts: http://forums.startrekonline.com/showpost.php?p=2550876&postcount=124.

All in all pretty darn hilarious.

Ya, the guy is well known for blindly defending Cryptic. It's actually pretty common with the IRC people, especially those that belong to the same fleet as this wannabee. They get made to feel "special" by rubbing shoulders with Cryptic people in the channel, and after receiving their little cyber pats on the head they become very loyal lap dogs.

The most amusing thing for me has been seeing these people get proven absolutely wrong on pretty much every issue they defend Cryptic on. I'm not even exaggerating. Over and over and over we've had them attack us, and on every single issue we've been proven right in the end.  They've never been right about anything when it comes to what's good for STO and what's bad for it.

The sad part is that due to the way these people feed the evidently starving egos at Cryptic, they're the ones the devs seemed to listen to, and thus they're a large part of why STO is in the sorry state it's in.

    Forums by a long shot..

This is the only game I've every played where I logged more time on the forums than the actual game.

Although they are kinda getting boring these days... same dozen or so people posting over and over in every thread about how great the game is. LoL

His name is MarkLuvsCS? Seriously? Why doesn't he just get down on his knees and get it over with?

"Oh my, how horrible, someone is criticizing a MMO. Oh yeah, that is what a forum is about, looking at both sides. You rather have to be critical of anything in this genre as of late because the track record of these major studios has just been appalling." -Ozmodan

After a while, the forums were more enjoyable.  You actually had variety in PvP there instead of another PvP match on the same d*mn map over and over again in the game.

The best forum PvP I ever had however was for AoC.  I thoroughly enjoyed the flame wars there in the early months when the fires were raging after release and the rose colored glasses of Tortage came off everyone's eyes.

"I have only two out of my company and 20 out of some other company. We need support, but it is almost suicide to try to get it here as we are swept by machine gun fire and a constant barrage is on us. I have no one on my left and only a few on my right. I will hold."
