They offer no quotes, and claim that LotRO was based on Peter Jackson's movies, so I'm not sure how reputable that particular writer is. Also, nowhere in there does it say anything about applying micro-payments to LotRO. It says Time-Warner was interested in using Turbine's billing scheme and social networking technology in some of its other games and home video market. Again, with no quotes from anyone in the company.

It's quite possible the company will include micro-transactions in LotRO at some point, but nothing in that blurb indicates it's happening now, soon, or ever.

[EDIT] I'm sure most people have seen the thing by now, but the entirety of it is:

Warner Bros is buying North America’s largest independent online gaming studio in an effort to spread its social networking and micro-payments technology across its video games and home video business.

The acquisition of Turbine, the group behind Dungeons & Dragons Online and the hit multiplayer online game based on Warner’s Lord of the Rings film franchise, brings technology capable of charging small sums for swords and spells as players progress through a game, chatting with friends or posting scores to social networking sites.

Um..actually, LOTRO is based off the BOOKS, in fact they had to buy the rights to make the game, and agree to a very strict set of rules regarding "new" content, from the descendents of Tolkien.
