That...
One, I discovered LoTRO three years after the fact. It's deep, beautiful, well written, and completely immersive.
Two, It doesn't receive the respect it deserves.
I played an loved FFXI / WoW and then migrated between AoC, Warhammer, and Aion. I've settled on LoTRO. I only wish I didn't spend those monthsin AoC and Warhammer or the last two years in WoW.

Better late than never. Lotro is truely a great game and you'll get months of enjoyment out of it. I also heard they fixed first book quest so that you can solo it the entire way, so make sure you do that.
Lvl 23 going on 24... loving every minute of it.
Yeah, LOTRO is my MMO too... I started with the old one Ultima Online then on to EverQuest and every since EverQuest I've not been able to find a MMO that could hold me.. I know the games, I know the grinds, and I know the tedium of them... LOTRO is one that I know them and where they are, but yet the game still is fun to play around in.
You'll find me on the Firefoot server as Boon.
So you guys would say it is well worth playing it? Being someone who is in between games atm i would like some advice.
But it doesnt have Fantasy Gear though right?
Thats a major turn off in my book, not to have Fantasy gear. Realistic gear is a major turn off
LOTRO's end-game raiding system was too similar to WoW's, in my opinion. I didn't like being forced to do dungeons A, B, and C before moving on to D, E and F, and eventually raids G and H. If you are like me and starting the game fresh, without any help from others, you will have trouble catching up to the experienced players. I also did not like the randomness of the end-game weapons (artifacts, relics, legendaries, or something) that everyone depended on using. Can't remember the name of them. Been almost a year.
I would hardly call this realistic:

This guy is talking about legendary weapons and they are the exact reason I left LOTRO and havent looked back. It may have changed but when I left EVERYTHING about the weapon was random except damage and weapon type (and trying to get the right weapon is random in the first place). Past that the "bonuses", how much thoes bonuses where......everything was random and a gamble to the point it wasnt fun. Not saying I had to have the "perfect" weapon but if I am going to spend hours leveling it up then yes, I expect some sort of controll over what bonuses it gets.
Other than the pathetic excuse for that weapon system goes it was a great game imo.

They've made some changes to that system so you can now, over the course of play, swap out legacies that you don't need.
It's still a sucky system as it is more a mini-game than anything else.
The idea of deconstructing legendary weapons... LEGENDARY weapons in order to bolster your own is beyond silly.
