Advice for meeting girls online?

Anyone have any experience meeting girls via Match, Plentyoffish, or any of the other dating sites?

I've been considering giving it a try but I'm not sure it's for me. I did a google search to see if there was anything I need to know and came across a couple of decent resources. I just don't want to get into it only to find out I wasted my time. Also, I read one of the more popular online "guides" to these sites and was wondering if anyone else has already tried this. Here's the link.

Thanks in advance guys.

Just don't count on every female avatar to be a girl. The best way to find out is to actually be friends with people in the community and meet IRL. Also, don't be a creepy stalker. If a girl doesn't offer her info, don't pester her for it and don't presume that she's interested in what you want to talk about. Just start a topic and try to listen. Listening helps.

Hey! Your avatar is female... I don't suppose you're a girl?

I know a lot of single people who use plentyoffish all the time with pretty good success.  Much better than the pay sites like match and eharmony.  Their looks range from really hot to joe average overweight pony tale gamer.  One guy I know who is the joe average pony tale gamer didnt have a date in years, tried plenty of fish and within a couple weeks had his first date (that didnt go as well as he wanted) followed shortly by a few others.  Within 3 months hes found someone and now hes dating her regularly.  This other friend of mine, girl in the hot department, goes out probably 2-3 times a week with different guys from that site

best thing to do is be up front about who you are and why you're on the site right off the bat.  Dont meet people in private places like say.. your house.  Meet people out at public places, sports bars, pool halls, restaraunts etc.  If you're looking for guides, dont do it.  They just want your cash, be yourself you'll go further.

In the old days I would have recommended a Public Regional Chatroom from YM but those days are gone. PlentyoFish works but its more of a Dating site. If you want to just find a girl, may I recommend finding a girl in a game you play. Two of my best friends just moved in after meeting in Wow. Oh and meeting people online works. My beautiful love, I met her online almost 5 years ago.

Try it out. Most people feel they owe their relationships to coincidence...and most relationships coincidentally don't last. I'm not saying buy into all of those commercials and etc., but there's absolutely nothing wrong with stopping relying on coincidence and using every avenue available to you to find a good person for yourself. Online is a great medium for it, especially in avenues that dispel the anonymity of it all, and dating sites tend to force you to do that. Granted some people will lie and deceive, but that's a con that comes with the pros.

No wonder it's so hard to pull girls in RL nowadays, they're all looking for a date online!

A recent poll of my city and the surrounding cities says this countries basically in the midst of a sex crisis. Most of the females are taken, inelligible or simply revolting. Drug ridden, baby popping idiots are extremely common among the availibles. 3000 men need girls, 500 availible and 100 were someone youd want to date. Hows that for grim?

Just go out to the nearest / happening club. Take a shower first and dress nice (doesn't mean you have to throw on a Hugo Boss suit), go out and try to chat up some ladies. Don't leer at them, keep your eyes focused on their eyes and just talk.  For gods sake don't talk about video games or your mother.

Try to at least pick up someone you can have a conversation with. I personally hate it when you have nothing in common with the girl and after you're done, it gets really awkward. If you leave immediately then you're a douche, if you stay and try to talk without any common ground then it gets worse.

I have never tried online dating but then I'm just old fashioned.

You'll never know if you -do- have something in common with a girl if you make a concerted effort against not being yourself, i.e. not talk about videogames. You also stand less of a chance finding someone you have something in common with by going to an environ you usually don't go to, like the nearest happening club.

All of that is very cliche. Step one is to get over being embarassed about yourself and what you like to do. Be proud of it. Next step is to socialize in environs you socialize best. There's no "old fashioned", if there was, then why stop with the pick-up scenarios at a bar? I'm sure people still fill up car washes and drive-in theaters every weekend night too, no? Probably not.

Point being, whether you are a clubgoer or Facebook is something you can get into easier, be the way you'd like girls you'd want to meet be; 100% honest and true to yourself.

2005-2006 I probably met 20-30 girls from MySpace. Not an exaggeration, I was completely addicted to it. If I wasn't at work, school, a girl's house, I was online trying to meet one lol. It was basically like a video game that's reward was sex. lol

MySpace is pretty much dead now and I've been married for 2yrs (didn't meet her on MySpace lol), but I'm sure the same methods apply to Facebook or something like that. I would advise to stay far far away from dating sites, because you can get freaks there; where as meeting them on MySpace or Facebook, is like meeting a girl in a bar and I use the bar analogy purposefully. Some are there to just hook up and get laid, just like a bar. They are sluts, but in a bar, you get normal people who just are out for the night, same thing online... they are just there just to be there and aren't nessisarily looking for something. Like I said, stay away from dating sites. Adult Friend Finder can actually be pretty good if you're looking for something quick, easy, or different.... but....... be very careful there.

As far as meeting a girl through a social media site, it's pretty easy. It's best when it takes long time, that's how you meet the good girls and the fun ones. The key to meeting them though, is not to act like you're there to meet anyone, just act like a MySpace/Facebook addict or w/e and chat with them. I've had girls I chatted with for over a year, before I ever met them. Really, you have to let the conversations just evolve till she starts making the first slight moves that she wants to meet, or you have a perfect opportunity to say "hey, come hang out with me then" or something like that.

So, basically........ just find girls to talk to on social media. What comes of it, comes of it and it's up to you being able to analyze her words as to how far you can push the online relationship to real life. DON'T ONE BE THOSE GUYS WHO COMMENT EVERY ONE OF HER PICTURES "OH THIS IS HOT" or "THIS IS SEXY" or some creepy crap like that. You're not getting anything if you do that. Online isn't real life, the friend zone is where you want to be. In real life, the friend zone is doom because she's already comfortable with you, but when you're online the friend zone is where she gets comfortable with you. Also, keep in mind the bar analogy. If a girl wants to meet real fast, that's probably a bad thing, if she waits 3-4weeks of constant everyday chatting...... that's not so bad. I got alot of good female friends in the process (who were f' buddies too hehe), but I only dated 2 girls from the internet. One of them completely destroyed me and it still hurts to this day, I won't even talk to her. And the other, just faded out. Hanging out everyday, to every other day, to talking once a week to flatline.

Anyway, good luck. Hope I can help.

True but then I find that if I start talking about video games right off with a lady, I stand a 99% chance that she will just grin sort of funnily and then make a quick excuse to go away. And it's easier at clubs and such simply because it's kinda understood that you're there to party/have fun, either with your friends or with someone else. Other places can be suitable but it just makes it a bit more difficult, e.g. if someone's in a supermarket, then my assumption is that she's there to do her groceries and not get hit on. With that being said, lol a friend of mine did meet his newly minted wife (married last month) at a car wash though.

Yes, be honest and true to yourself but...just not in the first 5 minutes. Until that stranger gets comfortable with your presence it's generally not a good idea to scare her off with too much honesty. As the dates progress, then both of you can get to know each other more.

I don't know but I've never walked up to someone and go "Hi, my name's John Doe. I love playing WoW. Have you played WoW before ? Did you go to the last E3 ? I did ! I met up with all my guildies there and we had great fun talking about all our raids."

    LOL!

The truth is alot of women are popping babies because they're giving us what we want.  Which is sex without longterm commitment.  Ask alot of women and they'll tell you we want quick sex above all else.

So if you want steady companionship with a woman you can trust, start walking the walk.  And stay away from the porn!

    Just be yourself.

One of our friends (a woman) has being seeing someone for a few years now, and they met in DAoC.

There was some young stud that persisted in trying to chat up my wife (in game chat) for hours. Most of his comment were; are you really a girl (yes was the trueful answer).

Eventually my wife pointed out that her avitar was called Nantwo, and that was because she had two grandaughters. The young chap was most impress that a granny was up for MMOs.
