    At that price tag, I would go to for Intel I7 triple channel setup.  About $100 more than your current setup.  I also like two 500gb more than a big 1 tb drive.  Again cost is about the same but better perfomance and better data safty.

    Should also consider for a less expensive video card.  Top on the line is great but games don't really need that most of the times.  Get a a decent card at around $200 is more than enough.  Save the money for two monitors or even a blueray burner would be a better choice.  I recently built an I7 system with $1300.  Only has a nvidia 9800 512mb card on it.  To be honest, I didn't see any difference from my friend's $381 video card.  My card only cost $114. Just some thought.

    Not the best, but always the first.

    i5 750 is $10 more and better than your processor.

    The RAM is too expensive, imho.

    Go with i7/i5.

    Throw seagate out of the window and get samsung f3.

    You won't need that big psu, a 500 watt is way more than you need. Corsair is a decent and cheap brand.

    The case seems kinda expensive, antec 300 is a cheap and very good case.

    Yea once you get near $200 for CPU you are hitting i5/i7 territory. The Ram does seem overpriced, unless you plan on really OC'ing the ram then you don't need the higher quality expensive ram, just get some DDR3 1600 with decent timings. OC'ed memory is like the least performance contribution so I just save money there.

    I think the 5870 is a good choice, at 1920x1080 the graphics power helps, and it appears tessellated DX11 games are gonna want the power of a 5850/5870.

    The Samsung F3 is the fastest 7200 rpm drive now, I still haven't read about their reliability but you can usually see a HD crash coming so I think it'd be worth grabbing one, if it's not an option I do like Seagate's 7200.12 drives, quieter and almost as fast as the WD Black.

    Because you are looking at a Crossfire mobo with the option of adding another 5870 or 5970 in the future I think a ~750W is the way to go. Seasonic makes some of the best PSU's but $200 is high - most good PSU's actually are rebranded Seasonic PSU's that they sell for cheaper than Seasonic's so you could save some money by looking at Corsair, PC Power & Cooling, XFX, BFG, OCZ, Silverstone, etc but the Seasonic is a good choice.

    If your spending that much, I think you should plan to go the whole 9 yards with a Sound Card, Blu-Ray Drive, and Indulux SSD.

    You're not going to see much of a bump in performance by switching to an LGA1156 mobo over an AM3.  If you go Intel, go for the LGA1366 mobo since it has the features that help it beat AMD.  If you are getting an AMD CPU, get the Phenom II 965 C3 Stepping for $195.  Its a bit better to overclock, 3.9Ghz on stock voltages; and has a lower power output.

    You can get a cheaper chassis and grab the 500gb HD. The 5870 is a keeper and maybe spend a little more for an i7 920 proc. be worth it in future retrospect

    *Corsair Obsidian Series 650D *i5-2500K OC'd ~ 4.5
    *Asus P8Z68-V PRO/GEN3 mother board
    * Radeon HD 7970
    *8GB (4GBx2) 1600MHz Kingston HyperX
