Darkfall fans are make rabid EVE fans look like baby squirrels.... I've never seen a baby squirrel, but I  bet they're cute and cuddly! lol Don't worry, only 2 replied so far. Expect at least 5 or 6 more.

Gotta love it when trolls make it obvious enough to report.

Yet you have not posted any solid rebuttal period other then calling him a troll and trying to insinuate that I have not played the game when in fact I have and was merely relaying my own experience with DFO.

I have asked him to elaborate on the questionable part of his post, he has since dissapeared, like most do. And I never called him a troll, nice try. I called YOU a troll.

Really am I a troll because I wrote an experience/opinion which you did not like or want to hear? You might want to look in the mirror before throwing stones.

Sorry, mixed up my people, I'm asking YOU to elaborate on how quests, mobs, camps ect are all worthless? And what specifically is wrong with the UI? (other than the horrible chat system)

First I never said mobs, camps, etc.. were worthless. I said Quest in DFO are worthless because mob dropped gear is better and player made gear is better. The few quests that are in the game can be avoided altogether and offer no real incentive or motive to continue doing them at all. Trying actually reading my posts instead of reacting in a knee jerk fashion next time. You also might try at being specific and accurate about which areas I discussed that you found to be at odds with your point of view.

Games I've played/tried out:WAR, LOTRO, Tabula Rasa, AoC, EQ1, EQ2, WoW, Vangaurd, FFXI, D&DO, Lineage 2, Saga Of Ryzom, EvE Online, DAoC, Guild Wars,Star Wars Galaxies, Hell Gate London, Auto Assault, Grando Espada ( AKA SoTNW ), Archlord, CoV/H, Star Trek Online, APB, Champions Online, FFXIV, Rift Online, GW2.

    Game(s) I Am Currently Playing:

    GW2 (+LoL and BF3)

I do quests for a good story, exploring a new area, and for getting a decent bonus at the end, as quests were meant to be. I just wish there were more of them. I am not a fan of quest grinding. Quests should always be an alternate thing to do, an activity to take a break with so to say. Wow ruined that.

I know very little about Darkfall, and nothing other that what DF players themselves have said on these boards, so...I'm unsure of your statment here.
If you like to play and not see many other players in the game then play EQ2.
This is not entirely accurate, and this I CAN say for sure, because I play EQ2. The game world is very very large, so the truth of this entirely depends on where you ARE in the world. The game IS, indeed, a little top heavy on levels, because, like WoW, there is a very loyal bunch that has been there since release. However, there are a lot of people in all sorts of level brackets with alts, and quite a few NEW people as of late, as well. EQ2 has, along with LotRO, gotten a lot of the disgruntled overflow from other games. If you're in a guild, for SURE, you don't lack "seeing people." Most guild halls and big cities are fairly busy, at least on my server.
If you enjoy a immature and childish community then play WoW.
This is also, only partly true. I played WoW from release until about 2 months ago. A couple years of that time I also played EQ2 alongside of it, because I had friends and family that were playing in one or the other.
If I were to give an OVER ALL assessment of WoW....what you said is accurate. However, I was in an all adult guild, I didn't pay much mind to trade chat (which is where Barren's Chat moved to after BC and WotLK), and honestly....I really enjoyed the game because I RARELY had to deal with the immature and childish denizens of the game world. BUT....you speak the truth. It's just that...it's also easily avoidable if you're in an adult guild (and there are a LOT of those).

So....I think, OP, you should just play whatever game ITSELF appeals to you the most by features, and lore, and videos you've watched, etc...and let the rest take care of itself.  Just my two cents.

It's about having the freedom to choose. Which is an extremely important aspect of "sandbox-ness".

You know.....to loot, or not to loot.

In a way, that is true.  The way you interpret sandbox, everything contributes to sandbox, the more the better.  In other words, sandbox offers options.

Issue is, options may be conflicting.  A game that allows ffa pvp and full looting will be less forgiving for pure crafters, or pure harvesters, who do not want to spend a lot of time levelling combat.  Nothing right or wrong about it, but it all comes to a compromise.  You cannot have a game that favours ffa looters and yet very friendly to adventurers, crafters, harvesters, or just anyone else who do not want to focus on strict combat in group (ganking).

In some games that you feel less sandboxy we see the contrast, take wow.  I can play an alt in a pvp server that practically allows me to fight anyone from the other faction anywhere I see fit.  On the other hand, I can also create an alt in a pve server and focus only on crafting.  I have been able to create a few characters, level to only 65 and max all crafting, with very little combat skills and totally no gear.  I can have very low level alts that maxes harvesting and go harvest in blind spots of ore or herb spawns that no mobs will come close, so long as I got escorted there and log out in safe spot.  Can I do that in DF?  No.

So your idea of full freedom in pvp and looting reduces the freedom of full crafting alts without combat training or gear.  Its a compromise.  DF provides more freedom in the pvp and loot options, but then less for crafters and harvesters.

Thanks for the help, although no one really gave me much specific info on the games other than a few and no one bothered to answer my questions on Darkfall. No worries though. I've decided I'm gunna play Ryzom, if that doesn't work out I'll play WoW.
