Some good features but no...

YamotaYamota Member UncommonPosts: 6,593

Been playing the game for about a month now and altough I have seen some good elements, such as great customization and fun combat the game simply does not have any lasting appeal.

There is no endgame to speak of and the PvP is, altough fun at times, just various instanced deathmatches. And from what I have heard about the upcoming patch not much of that will change. Also the game is extremely solo focused.

So anyone thinking about trying the game I suggest you wait a few months and see if they finish the game and add the missing features as of right now it is just half a game, good half a game, but still half.

I would have to agree.  The content is lacking in many ways.  I was so very excited about the title.  Then got in to my thirties and noticed I was having to do missions 2-3+ my level.  That's NEVER a good thing.  MMO's should never launch with that big of a content gap.  The devs need to quit concentrating on the C-Store and start concentrating on adding meaningful content or they are going to loose what few remaining non-lifetime subs they have.

I think it is too late, XFire is showing 75% drop since the peak after launch, and altough that number is far from reliable I think it has lost atleast half of the players.

Heck I like the game but cant see myself continuing to play since I am not an altaholic and I want to focus on one or two characters but after level 35 there really isnt much to focus on.

Yep.  I will not be resubbing after my 6 months are up.  Heck, I haven't even logged into the game for a few weeks now.  Just don't have the desire to play.

I have to agree with you guys, i got a life-sub and I'm not even playing currently, heck i haven't even build myself up to log in like 2 weeks but i guess that's why i got the life deal. I'm hoping this game gets better. Aion is tiding me over until DCUO & SWOR.

Edit: At least they are letting people get money back form the Life-Sub deal

Same here, have not played in weeks, last week I did contact biling and they refunded my 6 month subscription though, they were helpul and quick to respond.  I should know better than pre-ordering a mmorpg. (usually I wait a year or so)

I'm just glad to hear they're refunding the six-month and lifetime subs. Coming out of open beta, I was shocked by how many people were ordering them. I knew how small the gameworld was, and I knew there would be a lot of regrets. So, props to Cryptic for doing the right thing.

A pity. I loved some stuff about it in beta. But even then I could not see myself playing it for months or even years. One time through and then seen it all. Shame.

I wonder if CO is the next Tabula Rasa.

Doubt it. Tabula Rasa was a broken half ass MMORPG. CO is a solid MMORPG with lots of cool features. It just lacks an endgame and proper PvP and it is too easy.

If they fix those I will for sure return.

I agree with the statement above. CO is nowhere near as poor as TR. I'm just waiting on them to fix some of the broken powers and just add a little more content / zones and I think I'd like to return and continue leveling my heroes.

Has a lot of good ideas and cool powers. Just needed some more balancing and fix some of the powers they've broken.

It released a little too early for my taste.

I also hope grouping gets an awesome buff once they make it so you can share any quest.

I feel pretty much the same way as most of u. I played in closed beta and liked the game but there was just something missing. No villains, no world PvP and no real end-game content. So i didnt buy the game and was goin to set it out, then i found a copy of CO on ebay for like $16, so i bought it and tried again. This time i was really happy with CO at first and went throu the same cycle, loved it, thought it was a sweet game then got tired of it after a couple weeks. Just not enought non-combat stuff to do maby. It is a good game with fun combat, but i am just looking for something more outta a superhero MMO i guess.

This has been a typical pattern since the game was in alpha... I tried to take a break on several occasions hoping to form a diferent opinion when i returned but to no avail. Its funny that despite how much people want this game to succeed, want it to be really fun it just seems to conspire to defeat you.

Ultimately the theme is just lost beneath the generic and sterile world play, you always emerge in wonder from the awesome avatar creator but then hit a brick wall of lifeless and empty tasks played out in a world that just fails to convince or engage..... Cryptics only response seems to be to yet add more of the same, but quantity will not compensate for the lack of player involvement, the lack of individuality, the lack of purpose and the lack of variety in the world mechnics.

Why people buy lifetime subs for a newly released MMO is beyond me.
