if you want to play a game just like wow there are a bunch of clones out there. If you want to play something different get started playing F2P games and as many P2Ps that you can afford.

Iv played SWG from 6months before jump to lightspeed came out. Wow and Guild wars for 4 years. Eve online for 2 months. Warhammer for amonth. And alot others but still i always go back to Wow haha. I started a new account with swg and got chills i love that game also but still cant find a game that is as good as Wow/Swg.
Depends what you mean by "good". I personallyhave always disliked WoW, gave it several tries over the years with the different expansions and i just dont get the obsession with it at all. If youre looking for somethign SIMILAR to WoW.... you can pretty much just scroll a game list and pick at random, way way too many games are just WoW with a different name and 1 or 2 different features.
If youre looking for something good and different from WoW youve got a few choices. EVE is a really good game, very different from just about any MMORPG out there, with tons to do, thousand of places to go, great pvp, player driven ecenomy, consistent updates/expansions. Granted it does have a pretty big learning curve, there is way way to much to learn to be able to sit down and pretty much master the game in a day or 2 like you can with most others. It takes a lot of patience and time to really get everything down and understand all the little intricacies, but once you start to pick it up pretty well after a few days it really is an amazing game.
Ryzom seems to be another one. I am actually just starting on it myself today, but it has been out for a few years. My understanding is that it is a sandbox game, without traditional class restrictions and linear growth, you can pick up pretty much any weapon/skill/magic with your character, and master it by using it and over time build your character exactly how you want and be able to perform i multiple roles rather than say a healer who cant do crap for fighting, or a dpser with 0 survivability. There looks to also be some features allowing players to create and edit their own maps and quests which others can play in as well. Im not sure on all the specifics, but overall looks to be a game where you can pretty much be whatever you want to be without the typical limitations. I havent really seen anyone who has trie dthe game saying anything bad about it, most of the reviews/responses seem to be quite good and they all enjoy it, its just not as well known as some other games.
I also recently tried SUN (Soul of the Ultimate Nation). Pretty cool game from what ive seen, quite a few options for speccing your class the way you want (skill points being put into stats & fighting styles/skills of your choosing along different paths). Was a rather fun game for the few days i played it, has some pretty great potential, and definitely requires teamwork to take on some of the instances/quests even in the lower levels.
DDO (Dungeons & Dragons Online) is a pretty good overall game too with an awesome combat system. It recently turned F2P so might as well give it a shot.
If you want something new and different then i would say go with the games metal suggested adding atlantica online and DDO in there, and if you want something similar to wow in a new setting i would say check Aion out as its probably the best compared to wow in feeling and polish but you can check out EQ2, lotro, vanguard and guild wars aswell.

EVE, LotrO, DDO and Aion are probably the only MMOs who are close to the quality of WoW. What is "good " depends on personal preferences.
If WoW = The Beatles
and WAR = Led Zeppelin
Then LotrO = Pink Floyd

EVE's "as good" as WOW. Whether you like it or not is a matter of personal preference.

Depends
Did you start with WoW?
If that's the case then your looking for a game like Wow and all the copies of WoW fall short. so go back.
If you want a totally different experience I would try more open ended games like Eve, Ryzom, Fallen earth and Darkfall.
Guild wars is pretty good also.
PLaying: EvE, Ryzom
Waiting For: Earthrise, Perpetuum

Give EQ2 or LOTR a try if you want to stay with the fantasy genre.
