The old nagged out LFG spaming

DuraheLLDuraheLL Member Posts: 2,951

Its a real shame this game has not improoved on anything with the old "standing around spamming the LFG chat for a slot in a group" thing.

Its getting really old to be honest. Especially when there are no tier based chats for LFG in this game. Meaning that everyone too low and too high for your interest will still show and clutter the LFG chat.

Why has there never been a swift UI component or system that helps making groups instead? That everyone looking for a group is listed in LFG window that each group looking for players can just choose players from and then they are directly added to the group

I think its a great idea. Obviously they need to make upgrades to the search functions and add utility

EQ1 has a great LFG system.

As long as it doesnt result in you having to manually type into a chat every 10 seconds to battle for spotlight it sure can be described as great.

I haven't played EQ1 so sadly I missed the way they solved the issue

I have to agree 100% with this. I don't know anyone who doesn't. There are plenty of games out there with a decent enough system for them to jus rip off but why haven't they done it? I don't think anyone will complain about it if they did.

Anarchy Online also has a very good LFG system. You have a window where you can search people LFG in your area or anywhere. It only displays those within your level range also. I don't understand why all games can't have this by now, it's a very simple and useful feature (although coders may beg to differ x])

CoH had a nice UI for this. You could search which area, class, and level ranges you needed. Loved it.

Given a bit more time i'm sure they will implement it.

So far in War, WoW, L2 and CoH i have seen this UI used little while the LFG channel gets spammed continuously.

It's just a product of people not being efficent enough and just plain lazy when a MMO has this feature.

Was it EQ2 that made available global chat channels set up by lvl (i.e. 1-10,11-20, etc.)?  Can't remember if it was that game or another one that had this available.  It's been quite some time since I've played EQ2 and I've played so many mmos any more sometimes I forget which game had certain things hehe

Anyways, whatever game it was it really made it nice because you could only view certain channels if you were high enough level and if you were high level you had the option to turn off lower level chat channels if it was just getting on your nerves or getting spammed with a lot of messages that didn't relate to you or was just babbling nonsense.

I wish more games would use that feature.

    1. For god's sake mmo gamers, enough with the analogies. They're unnecessary and your comparisons are terrible, dissimilar, and illogical.

    2. To posters feeling the need to state how f2p really isn't f2p: Players understand the concept. You aren't privy to some secret the rest are missing. You're embarrassing yourself.

    3. Yes, Cpt. Obvious, we're not industry experts. Now run along and let the big people use the forums for their purpose.

Yea it is a UI window that allows you turn on "LFG" and search players looking for group by class and level and search groups looking for players.
