So just popped over to see if the Ywain servers were up and they are. 3500 people on that cluster alone. That's....that's...I'm speechless. Now of course, how many of those are bots? Say maybe 1/3? Still, 2000 people on one cluster is almost what is was back before clustering. Still have a long way to go before they get my sub again, (will not participate in the mad dash for artifacts), and with this success, looking forward to Origins or some sort of DAoC 2....or w/e is planned next.

Was it 3500 people online at the same time? Sounds like more than enough to have some good fights. I hope there are numbers like that in EU, but I have my doubts. I bought this game a year ago and I didn't get further than lvl 5, because I noticed there are only 50 people online divided into three realms. Anyone from EU who can tell numbers?
Was 3900 showing onlline when I logged in Sunday.
Start a toon here now as lots happening. Lots of Euro's on here too.
/salute
I had my account reactivated like an year ago and the classic cluster was decently full. I started a new character and had no problems to party till cap and altought it wasn't very easy, it also wasn't hard at all to find people during RvR.

I have a European version of DAoC, how can I enter the US servers? Do I need to buy the game again? I don't feel like buying the game again as I might find out that DAoC isn't anything for me. 2x of a game I don't like, how stupid wouldn't that be.
At what times is it activity? Only around US prime time?
I Have both, just go to the USA DAOC website not the European, take the 14 day trial, it downloads the USA version to a different folder and has all the expansions including minatour, make a USA account, and your there. USA is better for the numbers and patches are always ahead, can see some lag though, but hey if things improve we'll all be back in Europe where this Mythology began :-).
O by the way it's all free, just the subs you pay for...
Didn't they add buffer NPCs that gave conc buffs? Seems like they addressed it if true.
I activated for the 10 free days at least to transfer all my characters. Still undecided if I'm staying...I might since I'm not playing anything else. I'd definitely reactivate for the Origins server. Maybe once I spend the money to reactivate I'll get my STO beta invite.
I'm patching DAoC us version as I write this I think I'll be hibernian, as I assume they're the underdogs. I don't want to bring more imbalance to population. Any class that is needed?
What is Origins, please? I am just looking to get back into DAoC and was wondering about server population and finding groups. I see from a few posts here that Ywain seems to have decent numbers. DAoC 2 would be nice (as long as it doesnt turn out like AC2)
Definately a lot of toons logged in on ywain, however for me, the need to go through the ML and arti process is still a deal killer. I tried though.. I resubbed for a month and moved my toons over and jumped in to see how I felt about it all. Just not what I want though.
I'm with the idea for a DAOC 2. A fresh start without a dozen layers of leveling and a final mandatory grind just to get the few pieces of gear that are acceptable.
I miss the early days for sure.
Good to see DaoC plugging along, If I could transfer my Euro Character over to this US cluster I would do so in an instance, but I realise this is impossible and the thought of going through MLs all again just puts me off..
And another person leaves the Warhammer failure-in-progress to rejoin the DAoC Team! Yay!
"Hello All,
I wanted to take a quick moment to introduce Andy Beldford. He has been one of the Community Coordinators for Warhammer Online and will be now helping us out here on DAoC on a regular basis. His assistance will help free up time for the developers who have been spending much of their time posting, responding to feedback, and tracking down issues, which will allow the development team to focus more on delivering our version updates. Developers will continue to communicate through Dev Diaries and Facebook, but Andy will be here to make sure the team does not go quiet while focusing on completing its various deadlines. Furthermore, Andy will be collecting feedback from the Herald, forum threads, Facebook, etc. and relaying that information to the team. Welcome, Andy!"
This is getting more and more humorous as time goes on. With WAR just recently falling behind AoC in the numbers game, its clear that EA/Mythic/Bioware does not want to spend that much more on the debacle of WAR. Its a shame really, if they had followed the 3 realm DAoC pattern, it might have been a better game, that and not having every zone split down the middle in linear fashion. Still, I hate to see a game bite the dust after a year or so *cough* Tabula Rasa *cough*. Time will tell.
It's been a while since I've heard any Origins news, but Origins as announced would be basically as if DAoC stopped expanding with SI, or maybe no expansions at all...I'm not 100% on that. I think SI zones but no SI classes. No ToA or later content (including classes) for sure other than giving Mids Valks and deleting Theurgs from Albion for balance reasons. It would have the old frontier areas, also.
AFAIK Origins is still on the table, but they're probably going to wait for the dust to settle on Ywain. I just reactivated and am gonna level up some Mids...CYA all in Modernagrav lol.
Origins:
Classic and SI zones
All classes except theurgist, mauler. And any races that were introduced with catacombs.
And thats pretty much it. Darkness Falls will still be there (w/o the darkness rising expansion). Old Frontier zones intact, I think they were going to include the new keep designs and updated graphical content. Of course, the new keep designs don't work too well with OF, so that was one problem.
Pretty much everything before ToA.
DAOC has been a major blast and been some crazy ass fights since this server merge...there are tons of rvring going on. Mid just took str relic last night and alb runs a zerg of almost 200 but mid is getting very organized thanks to some great leadership. There are guilds recruitng and the ML and champ level stuff is easy to get. I took a toon that had some crapy gear from like when toa just released to fully templated with 5 artis and 10 all champ levels done and all ml's in about 3-4 days and am having a ball
There is alot of guilds recruting and ofcourse you still have the 8 manners and stuff but the thing is there is so many people on Ywain that you can find a guild for whatever you wanna do. If you are even considering a daoc return the time is now its fun right now! this is the first time i have even been on forums in about 2 weeks because I am actually playing a MMO haha
Come to think of it, only original classes, minus Theurgist and adding the Valkyrie to give Mid the same number of classes as the other two realms, and I guess the Valk is different enough from other Mid classes without being OP'd. Reason they're getting rid of the Theurgist is because Animist is being dropped too, so nobody will have a pet spam class.
I have to agree with beeker.
I just resubbed after about 3years or so. Last time I played was before ToA. DAoC has changed so much since then its not even funny. Kinda feels like a huge sandbox to me now instead of the huge grindfest it used to be. Can create a character, lvl him to 50 in 2-3days, maybe sooner if you got some powerleveler.
One thing I kinda enjoyed was the starter archetypes was removed, so you pretty much start off bad ass right off the bat. Back in the day I remember 1-5 being kinda tough, if you didnt have anyone to twink or bot/pl. 1-8 goes in about 30minutes these days.
Bounty points actually mean something now hehe. When I played I dont think you could do anything with the bp's, maybe im wrong. But if there was it wasn't all that great. Now you can buy ML's/Arti's/House stuff, alot of stuff really.
I had been debating on resubbing for a couple months, one day I saw a new server appear on the herald, Ywain. And I saw there was like 4k people playing. Compared to the old 1k across all servers (which was holding me back). But Im really glad I went back to Daoc, Dunno if im gonna fire up all my accounts but i got 3 running now.
Hope to see you in game....Midgard rules
resubbed myself, it's great to be back :-)
