Mauler: How can he use FIST ATTACKS? Newbe stuck

Made a pair of Hand Wraps and placed on character model of Mauler( level 5) but still not able to use any of the hand attacks. When pressing the attack icon(s) for these attacks a message reads something like a 2handed weapon needs to be used. I thought Maulers could pick to fight (melee) using a staff OR fist, and ir choosing fist all that is needed are hands wraps. What gives?

You are most likely trying to use the staff attacks.

Maulers get staff attacks as well as fist attacks.
