I need a new MMO and have a list of 5 games in development that I`m following.
AION is last on my list but it launches first so I`ll prolly play it before anything else.
I haven`t done any in-depth research on the game features and classes but since I always play melee classes I need to decide between 2 classes (Gladiator or Assasin)
Gladiator is my first choise but after seeing some YouTube videos I`m not sure anymore.
Assasins seen to pwn everyone and everything in PVP heh.
Are they lil bit OP ? Subject to nerf maybe?
I need a review of these 2 classes in PVP from someone that is already playing AION if that`s possible please.
I`m only interested in hearing high-end top level PVP I could care less how good they solo PVE or how bad they scale with levels.
Those things you do once and that`s it.
If I don`t have to level 2 chars to level cap just to see for myself what`s maybe obvious would be great.
Thanks.

Ranger is the OP class in PvP.
Just choose the one you want to play. When you ask other people, they will tell you to play the class they like. The classes in Aion are pretty balanced at endgame so flip a fucking coin
I'd go with glad over sin.
AoE attacks and stun will be a lot more useful than single target DPS. They can also off tank for small groups.
The sin will be a lonely solo type class for ganking (as defined by the name). The glad is usefull in groups and can deal some serious hurt by itself.

Well, after reading that interview it looks more like the player is OP not the class he played hehe.

As a disclaimer, I'm not attacking this post at all (I'm not personally familiar with Aion's endgame yet, but have played pvp/rvr MMOs in the past at endgame), just offering another viewpoint.
By most accounts, as a previous poster mentioned, classes are fairly balanced in Aion's endgame (one of the nice things about having the same class on both factions). In a balanced endgame, single target DPS is usually overshadowed by AoE only because AoE tends to be the path of least resistance. Single target is much more tactical and focused in usage, and therefor not as universally helpful as AoE (the Stun, ie CC is another matter all together, but the OP seems most interested in damage potential, so that's what I'm focusing on here). I agree completely that the Gladiator would probably be more versatile in the long run, and could probably do more damage over time than an assassin, simply because they should be able to last longer. I would think the assassin would have the higher BURST potential though, which can often be critical when burning down targets, particularly healers; so they can be very useful to a group when talking about the assist train.
Ok.
My english isn`t all that good and now after reading my OP I see it`s not very clear.
I`m not interested in their DPS output per se(different archtype and I would expect sin to be more dps with less defence).
I`m more concerned about class balance in 1vs1 PVP.
Last PVP game I played was AoC and the class balance in that game is teribad and main reason why I droped AoC like a bad habit.
I do expect a good balanced product with little to no bugs and good polish from NCsoft though, it`s just that all videos I watched the sins were killing every class in duels. I don`t want to waste my time leveling and training for PVP just to get owned by the flavor of the month over and over.
That`s why I came here to check things out and ask people that know more about the game.

A few things you need to think about.
1st. any game with a character that can stealth and hide from others is going to be a huge pain. Sins are one of the best at it and in 1vs1 they are probably going to win.
2nd. This is an MMO and thinking about 1vs1 pvp is the wrong attitude. Anytime an MMO includes Assassins, you can guarantee they are going to be the enemy of single player battles. That pretty much goes for every pvp MMO out there that has them. On the other hand, you can also expect that not all assassins are good. there will be plenty of people who play them and wont play them what I consider well. When I played WoW, my hunter usually owned most assassins in fights for one reason, most of them wasn't any good. the good ones would rip you to shreads. On my shaman however, unless they stunlocked me for the entire time, he normally won. Shamans however were pretty overpowered when it came to 1vs1. So back to my original statement. 1vs1 is not ever going to be perfectly balanced in an MMO. It just wont happen especially when you have a class that can stealth.
I played a 38 Assassin on C-Aion and a 30 Assassin in Closed Beta.
First, remember each class has their own role and each class is balanced in that way.
Realize that burst damage is really important and Ranger, Assassin, Sorcerer are the 3 classes who excel at that. By that I mean these classes are the expert gankers and are the most fragile and are also the 3 cookie cutter classes for archer/dagger/nuker as I have seen in Lineage 2. These classes usually do fairly well against each other, if either class is the first to engage they usually win if skills land.
Classes such as the Gladiator and Templar are resilient to burst damage, they have skills if used right will negate a lot of damage for a short period of time, if used during burst they will have the upper hand. Also being a more "meaty class" they have a higher survivability.
Now, Assassin's in a way are more overpowered because they beat the system. In order to get the best PvP gear you need to be able to survive. Assassin's have the only undetectable stealth in the game so if enemies approach they can just stealth up and walk away. No other class can do this, Ranger can but both Rangers/Assassins can detect theirs. You can run as another class but usually they will have superior run speed with Chanter buffs etc. It is very easy for an Assassin to get top pvp gear compared to other classes.
Basically Assassin's can choose when to fight and when to leave. Run for 2 seconds with their 20% speed buff and not getting hit, stealth and fly away.
1v1 Fights it's mostly RPS but I've seen some unfavorable classes win. Templar is usually the best since it's practically immune to burst damage with it's invulnerabilities and shield buffs. Ironically it's usually Cleric's and Chanters that beat them.
If you want to Solo 1v1 Gank, roll a Sin. Glads are the thrid best melee DPS in the game and they BY FAR have the best AoE DPS,
Sins are squshey of you cant play them right, Glads are ot squishy. But glads dont have stun locks or as high of DPS.
So its all preference for you, do you want a hulking plate armored 2handed greastsword wielding monster charging into the Frey, or a sneaky light armored duel wielding Sin, stealthily infiltrating behind an enemy and stun locking him into submission.
Pfff this is not go. noone can help you about that problem. Just play open beta or original game in september then you will know what class will fit you.You just cant know like watch some video or read something about classes on forums etc.Assasian maybe OP in Aion but maybe you dont like assasian class in aion because every single mmo has different play style and this is for every classes in games.
Maybe Gladiator class funny to play in other mmorpg like in AoC but its not funny to play in Aion?!
For example i like to play caster class and playede warlock in wow but i really dont like to play caster in AoC.I like to play melee class Conquerer in AoC, damn it was so funny melee class. Also when played wow, didnt like melee classes and played warlock for 2 years.
As i said this is not go.You need to play different class to lvl 10 at least so you can see which class can be your main.Every single game has different playstyle.
Just my 2 cent..
