What defines a game as a "top game"?

If subscriptions world wide makes a game the "top game" in the world, why do people hail WoW as the king of MMO's when it's not the game that has had the most active subscriptions at one time?

Do some research, WoW has what, about 10-12million? Do more research, Lineage 2 has been up to and has hovered around 17-18 million for quite a while.

So, will someone explain to me (since it's a popularity contest) how WoW is somehow on top?

Note: don't fling up and nonsense about korean grind games or any of that stupid crap, it has come a long way.

Problem is you ask a question, then answer it, then use your answer to prove your point.  I don't know what the answer is to your question but if I don't accept your opening "if" then the rest of your reasoning kinda breaks down.

I don't see it as a problem. If you ask yourself questions, and give yourself answers, you'll always have the correct answer.

    See how this works?

Where did you get your sub info?  I was looking and didn't see anything near the numbers you quoted for L2

ONLY if you happen to give yourself the correct answer. And that has not been established in this case.

Then keep looking, I'll dig it up later when I have time and show you :)

    As I suspected. Carry on.
