I recently resubed for a short time to get an idea on both sub numbers And to burn a bit of time. One thing i noticed on my primary server. I asked if anyone still plays at 3 pm Central time. I got 1 response. Now under some circumstances this would bother the hell out of me, but in a game that is nearing its offline time, Im a bit surprised after new content/prime time that numbers are so low. any one else experience this? I know the game is on downswing and im just burning time in it like other games :P.

When and where did you ask?
CoX has probably the best and most complicated chat system of any MMO I've played. This can be both a good thing and a bad thing. There are tons of very popular and active channels where a question like that would surely get a reply... but you have to actually set your chat window up to receive these channels and transmit over them.
If you just stand in the middle of the city and ask a question like that over the local chat... I'm amazed anyone spoke to you at all.

Actually I use broadcast channel. however everywhere I went to was pretty empty to boot. Not really surprised though.

Are you playing in the US on the EU? The EU is dead.
In the US, Freedom is the last remaining popular bastion.

Everyone was possibly in missions where they cannot read chat, but from my experience it does tend to be a very quiet game.
Both my wife and I still play regularly, and it rarely takes us longer (especially lately) than 30 minutes to get a full team of 8 together. The times you play can have an effect, certainly. Evenings and particularly weekends are best, but if you're playing midday on a workday, yeah, it's a bit slow. Also, to respond to another comment, while I have some characters on Freedom server, it's not my main and I have characters on many others. Freedom (and Virtue) has a higher population, yes, but I don't notice any problems getting teams on any of the other ones I play on (Infinity, Guardian, etc.).
Also, the comments are chat channels are correct. Right click on the chat menu, select channel search from the pulldown, and pick an appropriate channel or three from that. There are channels by class, searching for Task Forces, badge channels, etc.
Look for me sometime if you like, global name GammaWave.
Broadcast is only picked up by people in the same Zone as you. Depending on the zone and the time of day, that may not be very many people, or anyone at all besides yourself.
When I say a popular channel, I'm talking about a player created and run channel that you have to actually set your chat window up to receive and send on. Usually every server will have atleast one such channel which is specific to that server where only players on that channel usually join to chat, find groups and keep up with events happening on the server. For example I played on the Justice Server and we had several such channels, one called "Justice for All" and another equally popular channel with a slightly less catchy name which I can't quite recall at the moment. There are also global channels like this as well which can be accessed at any time by any player on any server. This game really does have the best chat system of any MMO I've ever played, you just have to know the ins and outs of it to find a place where you can connect with other players.
Freedom is the "Big" server with the most players, but it has to follow the rules of the internet. The more people you have, the more jackasses you have. I prefer quality over quanity so I choose a smaller server to play on.
