I loaded it up for the first time and it bugged out and would not start or update correctly. I reinstalled and got it to start/update ok and upon entering the game the graphics were extremely glitchy. The ingame menus would flash on and off and I had a very hard time doing anything. I searched their tech forums and found that I needed to turn off aliasing. I logged back in again and found my menu's to stay up this time. I did my first quest to kill a few minor npcs and I did but noticed the horrid "rubber band" lag effect I had. It also took a second for my character to actually target the npc and whack it. I quickly imagined how pvp would be in this game and figured my time would be better spent else where. I figured this game wasn't for me so I uninstalled it immediatly after.

You wouldn't happen to be Ed Zitron, would you? Obviously you had a bad experience, but do you really want to call this a review?
I agree the other guy. Your post as not enough meat for a review. I have played this game, and ....well.. these much more to commant about the game, bad and good, you are not even tryiing.. :-)
Just relaying my experience as I experienced it. I call it how I see it. Hopefully others players had a more positive experience.
Then it would be better to use in the topic line " My experience with Neo Steam " not a review because its falls very short as it stands and the topic is misleading when people read it and find nothing usefull about it...
You obviously had hardware problems and touched very little if any on gameplay, character creation, quests, combat, crafting, factions,PvP etc...
Best in the future to leave the reviews to more professional folks.....
Your "review" told me absolutely nothing about the game. Not even a first impression? So what do you have under the hood. Is it a dual core pc, tripple, quad? Video card (s ... if sli or crossfire?), memory?
Sounds like what another poster said that you might be having a computer issue?
Honestly, I can only go by Atlus's past released games, such as their persona series, and disgea, la pucelle tactics, Shin Megami... I'm surprised to hear that the quality of "bugginess" in their beta version is so prominent, ... like the other posters, I'm more inclined to believe you might have experienced pc issue, and/or possibly a compatibilty issue. Instead of uninstalling it, did you bother to report this issue in their forums so that they could possible address it for the next round of beta software revisions?
You're right. I edited the subject to Experience instead of review.
I can backup the OP with the rubberbanding issue. I don't have a crap machine or connection and it happened. However, it only happened when using the keyboard to move. I would guess their server had issues processing the continuous stream of a key press. I haven't played the game in several days, so it might be fixed by now.
I did have a small problem with it coming up as a black screen, but one quick visit to the forums and the issue was fixed. It seems like a good game, not the game for me, but a good game and the atmosphere seemed far friendlier than a great many I have tried recently. I'd suggest giving this game a whirl.
I played for awhile to try it out. Got my highest character to 41. The game isnt bad but there are alot of things that I didnt like about it. Classes arent balanced very well. Pvp seems pretty much pointless. I mean sure you can go kill npcs in the opponents lands, for what a little bit of prestiage? Seems like a waste of time. Supposedly the poeple with highest prestiage can get some kind of gear but the amount of players able to access it must be really small plus they dont let you see the gear you can earn so you have no way to tell what you are working toward. Quest system as all kind of faults. Xp on quests isnt high enough, much faster to level in grinding. Quest rewards are bad. Instead of doing quest rewards by class they are set rewards. So no matter what class you are playing if quest reward is a pair of leather boots your getting leather boots even though only 1 class uses it. The transportation system isnt bad its pretty easy to get around between the different areas once you have maps (which you can buy from npcs). Move system has alot of faults if you use wsad movement you stop when you change land types, like going from swamp to normal land to water etc., causes alot of problems when you are running from mobs are trying to complete quests and you are stopping and starting every 30 seconds. Didnt like the crafting system either. Crafting is done by specific characters that take crafting skills which I think is a nice way to do it but I didnt like that you had to have the opposite crafting class make items for you in order to complete gear. Ie if I was a smith i needed gizmo to make me item to complete a sword or piece of armor, if I was gimzo I need smith to make me item to make a gun or bow doesnt really make alot of sense. Also the amount of materials needed for the lower level crafting is stupid. I mean it takes like 120 of the basic component to craft something. The materials themselves are worth more selling to a player than the item you craft is worth by 3 or 4 times. Not to mention because it takes so many items to craft anything by the time you can craft an item you have already outleveled it by alot. I think the story behind the game is fun but the game itself still needs alot of work.
