    ZOMG 1st!!

    Excellent news.

Now there is hoping there will also be RP servers WITH enforcement of an RP policy, (without being toooo stuck up and strict, that is, a.k.a. "non elitist" but within a certain set of obvious rules).

Aaaaah great news. I have followed this game for a long time now, and the hopes for it coming this year is huge so lets hope.

Hehe, I just vastly prefer RP servers with most people having RP names and most (at least we can hope) people willing to engage in RP occasionaly. I made the skip to RP servers back in my WOW time and I have never regretted it. Populations on RP servers are generally more mature, helpful and interesting, is my experience. I just hope they won't open too many of them like they did with WAR.

If you look at how much time and effort is involved to make games like this offer a deeply immersive and realistic experience it kinda defeats the purpose if you see a Paris Hitlol's or a Pewpew Legolas' running around spamming out of character stuff everywhere you go. I love to play with people who try to respect the setting as much as possible in that sense.

Kind of the same reason some people don't bring ghettoblasters and a picknick basket along when they have to go to a funeral.

This is suprising, they are only now just about to enter the beta testing of the game so I really hope the alpha testing went really well and the beta testers will be testing a very playable game.

For it to hit the shelves in time for the end of summer the beta testers only have 2-3 months before the game would have to go gold.

I really hope they arent rushing this out the door, forgive me being down beat but my confidence in mmo devs has been shaken to say the least in the last few years.

I just hope I get a beta invite for this game.   :)   Looking forward to testing this game thoroughly, and who knows...maybe this time the developers will listen to us beta testers(I know I am dreaming - but we can always dream).

What?  How is it too early to get your game servers in order?

I personally think having an RP server be seperate is a good idea.  A lot of games out there currently are doing this,  i think it helps to keep the griefers on a seperate server, and makes the person playing on the RP server feel more immersed in the game w/o having to deal with people running around with names like XiKI11zN00BzX running around talking about thier e-peens and ruining thier carebear experience.

They've said they are targetting a mature audience and it seems they greatly encourage roleplay.  I would be inclined to believe that they will be pretty strict with naming and behavior in MO.  I would assume there would be a RP server, but I wouldn't be surprised if there wasn't one at all because of what they are aiming to do.

I think it comes down to how popular the game becomes.  More people may equate to less resctriction, hopefully I'm wrong though.

Yes, this defies conventional wisdom and reminds me of DF a bit.  I'm always suspect of Development houses making claims that they will not need to follow the same pattern as those whove gone before.

So the magic here is with beta just getting ready to kick off in May, they'll complete all beta testing, code fixes and release before summer's end. (technically as late as mid-Sept)

Maybe they'll be the first to pull such an accomplishment off and surprise me.

But thats not the way to bet in my book.

The population that MO will attract will be the DF population. There will be no RP servers since the assholes will just state they are RPing assholes.

Though I kind of chuckle seeing you guys being hopeful that "carebears" can live in peace in MO. Dont think so

I think most of the Darkfall fanbois will probaly stick to that game, and not carry over to MO...they just seem so obsessed with it, that they will probably just sit around in thier forums bashing it.  As far as carebears co-existing with PVP people, i do think there will be a balance, more so then DF.  Then again, why would a strictly PvE person want to play this game anyways?  lol....  it's like going into 0.0 in EVE and getting mad cause somoene podded you....  I guess what i am trying to say is that I beleive that when this game is released DF people will most likely stay away from it due to the flagging system, and i am sure thier forums will scream of hatred for this game.  Heres to hoping....

No one in DF really bashes MO because we like it (the idea of ffa pvp, FPS aiming etc). 90% of MOs beta appliers come from DF.

    Flagging system? LOL

Its like alot of you guys never played a real PVP game and are hoping MO is not DF....but it is basically. Only thing I hope from MO is profesionalism which is better than DFs devs.

So you are now the DF players spokesman?or does the WE part refer to you and some random mate?

Also can you leave some sort of link to the info that 90% of the beta applicants for MO come from DF players?

Also if you can leave all the info where MO is "basically DF"(other than they are open pvp games that is) that would also be handy..otherwise it is all just your rants.

Apart from freedom to kill and to be killed, a sandbox concept, twitch combat and skills based on actually doing stuff and the lack of instances there are some (hypothetical) differences to DF and MO I suppose:

MO goes for more graphical eyecandy and more detailed animations while DF's graphics are more optimized for mass pvp and the animations seem a tad clunky.

MO is somewhat more focused on personal immersion and roleplaying aspects to the game while Darkfall is more about sieging and large scale alliance warfare. (Take MO's crossbreeding option for instance, or the depth to the crafting system).

MO's world consists of smaller continents (with only one open at launch), while DF's world is much bigger (but presumably more empty?)

MO is first person only. DF has somekind of over shoulder camera mode and first and third person (not completely sure about that, here.)

DF is restricted to one character per server. MO has a Deva skill system where your alts learn some of the things your main char learns. (Hence the first thing you should probably do in MO is make some alts).

MO seems to have better art direction. And a better website ;-)

There will be no Role Playing servers, because the game itself requires you to play your character. Even 16 year old, self bolstered, harcore gamer kids are going to have to learn to speak with the people around them. They will learn if you act like a douche bag, people aren't going to want to group up, help or associate with them.

There is no global chat where you can repeatedly tell other how great you are, you are going to have to play this game on your own merits.

People who can function will do well, those who constantly relied on having friends around them all the time, will find a game like Mortal Online to empty, because to them, content is words on a screen and other people witnessing a 7 vs 1 ownage. So, there won't be an RP server, because the game at it's core requires it.

Darkfall's population is no more. Of the 300k people who signed up on those forums for beta, soon left after the NDA was droppd !! We saw the actual state of the game, all the lies and all the missing features. What is left, is 7k people no Developer wants or needs. They are the bottom rung of players, mostly little boys and somewhat retarded.

I love how random DF people have to come over here and hijack a thread.  They know their thread will be deleted, so they mask it by posting random garbage in other peoples threads.

This thread is to discuss SV signing an agreement to get their servers in order.  Not about how DF compares to MO.  We've had that conversation a thousand times and DF fails in every aspect.

There is no need for an RP server the game itself will be so immersive that even the most stuck up pvp hardcore elitist POS will start rping by himself..

That would be a dream come true, but I am more pessimistic in that regard and I can't see that ever happening.

Well from what I've seen on the official forums there's still a lot to be done and decided.

I haven't seen a lot of character customization options and characters look rather stale now. Not anything about ranged attacks, magic or healing. A few races just have been announced and have no lore yet. Not all main cities are finished yet. Nothing about fast transport.

Basically there's a lot of blank areas in the game - as far as it's announced that is. I think Q3 will be an optimistic guess and Q4 more likely. Beta hasn't started yet and I think it will take a lot of time to debug and fine-tune and make the game enjoyable to start with. No-one wants to see half finished products being released, it will only cause disappointments.
