first off, i am really diggin the look of this game! but i am a bit wary on a few aspects: 1) is there a levelling system? if so what is the level cap? how does level-up work? do you get points to distribute into attributes and skills like in so many other titles? can you ruin a character with a bad build , or is it something like guild wars where you can respec and now be set up for a different playstyle (possibly for what your team wants to tackle next)? 2) you mention in a previous post about crafting and auction houses: this implies some sort of grinding... being for the loot through PVE to craft? how "loot" driven do you see this game as? is crafting very in-depth... like do you need to use PVE loot to make the components to make the end product that you need a schematic for in the 1st place... all with some set % chance of failure/ success? 3) is there multiple tiers of gear? (i guess this falls under the grinding aspect) multiple tiers of classes? multiclasses? 4) i read that all toons will share the user name, how many toons on one account? is there an account-wide storage receptacle? 5) how deep is the story? is there any lore/ backstory/ setting for people that would want to actually roleplay in the world? 6) (TLDR) how in-depth is character customization, and can you ruin your character by cutomizing like an idiot? i'm sure you can't answer some of these questions due to the NDA, but anything you can answer would be greatly appreciated! overall i am very excited about the look and potential of this game... i'm tire of the old hotbutton skill spread.... standing in front of a mob hitting the # keys, hoping to get some awesome sword from the boss rat i just killed! it doesn't feel like your gettin in the game at all. hopefully i get selected for the CB so i can try it out myself to find the answers.
1) Yes
2) There are plans for auction houses and crafting yes, but gear dependancy is nothing like other games.
3) Uhh.. they plan to have 'seasons' where they release new gear and content. I think it's suppose to be after each campain or something (but it not clear so dont hold me to that)
4) You can have 8 toons
5) Nathan Knaack wrote all the lore. He's wrtten a novel or two worth of stuff they say. I don't think they let him out much.
6) There are a lot of parts to customization so if you don't do it thoughtfully I'm sure you'd screw yourself in combat, but there is also the element of player skill and team work to consider which sometimes can cover your ass.
zukan, thanx for your response! from the trailers and video i have seen they don't get into the issues i brought up at all... made me think they are a bit lacking in those areas. can't wait to get my hands on this game!!!
I haven't been following this game very closely but it does look interesting.
Character customization. How indepth is it? Or are they going the way of pre-made models with limited customization (gender, hair, some colors, and a choice between a few face models) like some other games?
And thanks for taking the time to answer questions about the game.

The character customization is quite in depth, there are two videos on gametrailers.com that show character creation and some of the customization available.
Thanks for answering the question there, Sandman. Those videoes are correct. There is quite a lot of customization for a shooter game, but it's not exactly City of Heroes. :P
They recantly added some new customization features (new hair etc.) for us testers too. No doubt they will continue to add more through out the testing period and even post launch I bet.
Is it like CoH at launch where there really was no point to playing it? Id hate to buy this, Love the game only for it to be a shallow pointless game. Or is it more like eve where theres Tons of area to control and Lots of Non combat things to do?
And most inportantly (to me) Does anything I do (PvE) have a affect on the game or is it just a "Fun side thing"?
Hopefully that is worded so it can be answerd... im sleepy.

When I mentioned CoH, I was only talkinga bout customization. I'm not sure what HiRez's intentions are with the PvE, I could speculate, but I don't really know, and I don't want to say something and have someone take it as fact. Not to mention a lot of that area is still NDA bound.
Maybe you can't answer this, but how does zone control generally work?
Say you fight an agency and win a map, can another agency challenge you right away? What if you have no members on? I believe I read somewhere that there is a 2 day holdover period or something then its fair game.
I would imagine that an agency would get a group together and choose to attack a zone and the owning agency has a certain amount of time to get a team together and defend, is that true?
Can you enter a zone your agency has capped and upgrade it, or are the bonuses it provides static and dependent on surrounding zones?
Lastly, what kind of bonuses do zones provide? The faq mentions turrets, and the videos show a huge explosion which I can only guess is something like a 60v60 fight where one zone succeeded in blowing up a generator or something causing another zone to get wiped out. If I had to guess I would think there would be basic things like faster respawn times, health/armor/damage bonuses, but there must be things like tech plants that spawn combat droids in friendly territories, air fields that do bombing runs, or equipment upgrades that let certain classes use unique weapons. Am I close?
Hey, don't know if you have gotten to experience the Medic. If bychance you have or know people who have. Is it a desirable class? Can you defend yourself enough or are you Recon bait the moment he sets his eye on you? If you have gotten to play how is the healing style? Fun and interactive or Whack-a-mole style?
"That's ludicrous. Are you seriously suggesting that I get better at the game in order to compete?"-Random Failure in the Global Agenda Beta forums.

I've played medic a bunch, but not a as much compared to Assault and Recon. Medics have enough tools to defend themselves from recon. Poison is very good for scaring off cloaked recon, as one example. You have more than just the healing gun as well, when it comes to healing your team, there are off-hand devices such as the healing grenade. There are also a few different healing guns to choose from, which do different things and heal for different amounts. You don't even have to focus on healing if you don't want (although a douche move) you can run around poisoning and shooting your gun at enemies, ignoring your own team, which actually kicks up a good bit of damage.
Medics in Global Agenda are so much more than a medic in TF2, I think you'll be very pleased with the options.

I love you good sir!! You just made my day! Now I just need to get into Beta =P (Granted I do love medic in Tf2)
Edit: Question: Do you bychance know the approximate date when the next phase of Beta starts?
"That's ludicrous. Are you seriously suggesting that I get better at the game in order to compete?"-Random Failure in the Global Agenda Beta forums.
I think one of the most important questions hasn't been answered yet.... can you dance in the game???
But on a serious note, I tried going through all the Q&A, but didn't see much on the PVE side of things. I assume there are quests that groups can do as co-op and such. Is it all instances or is that part of the persistent world? And what about the persistent world makes it interesting? Is it just a big virtual chatroom with doorways to instances or do you travel to places?

/moonwalk for one.
There is PvE. They're instanced 'dungeon crawl' type maps with a boss at the end, you do them with other players for drops which you then use in crafting to make enhancment implants.
The presistant world is the overall hex map. Look at it like a game of Risk. You have the game board with all the hexes up for grabs. The instances are for when you go in to fight over a specific hex. What makes the presistance hex map interesting is that that one 'game board' you would be looking at is the same one everyone in North America is looking at, for example. Since there are no servers like in most other MMO's, you play on one giant server per region. Meaning hundreds of thoushands of players.
If by virtual chatroom you mean cities and agency headquarters, yes they have those. You load right into missions, you don't have to sit on a griffon flying over Azeroth for 20min before you get to shoot someone.
Sound great. So can you explain a bit more on the hex map? You say when you try to take it over you do an instance? What are you taking over exactly? I heard that it's player controlled struggle for map location helps with the game's world. And that the locations (I guess hexes) hold resources. So does that mean people are trying to just hold down locations on resources and others are trying to take them? If so sounds great.
Yup you've got the idea. Some hexes have resources on them which you can use to get new technology etc. Unfortunately I can't say much on this right now. It's amazing fun though!
Exactly how does that work? Is the entire planet deivded up into hexes? Are they all up for grabs or just some of them? How many hexes should we expect to see in the final game? Tens, hundreds or thousands?

It's probably going to look something like that, but obviously nicer looking and all future-like. I'm afraid I can't go into much more detail about them than that yet. (NDA)
Reminds me a bit of shattered galaxy, except sounds like control of an area actually matters (there are resources in SG, but no one uses them). Have you played shattered galaxy? That one is a MMORPG-RTS. If so is there a high turn over rate for map control?
I haven't played shattered galaxy. I think they are going to have timers and such on hexes so that you don't loose your shit when you log out. I don't know what the plan is on it for real though.. just my guess.

You're on the right kind of thinking. Unfortunately I can't say anything as that is all still covered by the NDA.
I hear they'll be testing all that stuff again soon, so if you're lucky enough to get in you'll see for yourself.
